Time is running out for the American pika, an imperiled species that lives in high altitudes and is threatened by rising temperatures. Please watch this video and submit your public comments to the California Department of Fish & Game, which is currently deciding whether or not to list the pika as an endangered or threatened species. Spread the word! Together we can protect this wonderful species and put measures into effect that will benefit us all and our planet. Please visit http://www.pikawatch.org to learn how to help and how to submit your comments. Thank you! --the team at Pika Watch, who shot and narrated this video

I thought this would be a good hike for my brother and sister-in-law since it was only 5.8km to the Inkpots; and they would get to see some spectacular view of the Canadian Rockies. As it turned out, there were still a lot of snows and icy patches along the way, making the hike far more difficult and challenging, but we did it! I chose the song, "He Ain't Heavy, He's My Brother", by the Hollies, for this movie as the song is our favourite; and as I was editing, it seemed more and more appropriate. I shuffled the pictures a bit (slightly out of order at times) in order to sync with the lyric as much as possible. A good description of the trail is available at: http://www.banff.com/hiking/johnston_canyon.shtml Enjoy. K*

A subtle short story placed in the Canadian Rockies. People and nature have been merging since the beginning of times. Human "being" and "doing" have mirrored in that of Mother Nature's for centuries. For both, the evolution moves forward against all odds. The amazingly beautiful world of Mother Nature offers secrets to those "in the other world" ... who notice. Life needs nature to continue. The lessons in the people's world remain. The wisdom of creation in each "world" speaks for itself. The "whispers" in the chatter give us clues. After a brief dream under the beauty of the stars, a swift "woosh" brings another sunrise. The unemotional dawn offers only two choices for the future. The voices of the "Two Worlds" may become ... one hum. A single verse. A universe. Things I've learned: 1. Adobe LR helps remove hot pixels on RAW nigh shots "automagically" (must be the full RAW size only). 2. ND 3.0 color casts shots - needs to be fixed in post. 3. Anything done well ahead of taking shots helps ease the post work. 4. SMS mode is our friend : ). 5. Timelapsing is REALLY FUN! Hope that most bears and cougars will be "asleep" during the winter and early spring for more night shots practice : ) Software: AE, PP, LR & http://LRTimelapse.com (it's so helpful!), C4D http://www.PhilHart.com/ - Shooting Stars Ebook Motion Control: http://DynamicPerception.com Music: Derek Palmer http://dp-studios.org Thank you for watching!
