Founded in 2008, Pelotonia was established with the objective to fund life-saving cancer research. The model of Pelotonia remains simple: Pelotonia’s operating expenses are covered by generous funding partners so that 100% of every dollar raised by Pelotonia Riders, Virtual Riders and Volunteers goes directly to fund cancer research at The Ohio State University Comprehensive Cancer Center—Arthur G. James Cancer Hospital and Richard J. Solove Research Institute. Pelotonia is a three-day experience that includes a weekend of cycling, entertainment and volunteerism. In its first six rides, Pelotonia raised more than $82 million for cancer research. Thanks to its generous funding partners, Huntington Bank, L Brands Foundation, Peggy and Richard Santulli, American Electric Power Foundation, Nationwide Insurance, Cardinal Health Foundation, Harold C. Schott Foundation and The Scotts Miracle-Gro Company, Pelotonia is able to direct 100 percent of every rider-raised dollar to cancer research at The Ohio State University Comprehensive Cancer Center – James Cancer Hospital and Solove Research Institute.

We are calling this week's segment Give Love Save Lives with @ErikaBlatt. This week we are partying with a purpose at The Du Jour Cafe for Sips, Schmooze, and Science hosted by the Wistar Ambassadors. This event takes place at this location 3 times a year to enlist support and inspire philanthropy among young professionals for one of the world's leading bio medical cancer research centers, The Wistar Institute. Each Sip Schmooze and Science event is unique. During previous events scientists have conducted presentations and led discussions on specific cancer related topics. This event's theme was "Ask me I'm a Scientist". Guests in attendance were encouraged to approach scientists (that were wearing the themed name tags) to ask questions about the advancements in cancer research. Erika conducted interviews with Elsye Hoffman (Director of Donor Relations and Special Events), Dr. Erica Stone (Assistant Professor at Wistar Institute), and Alexa Lustig (Wistar Ambassador), to discuss their roles and the importance of the event. The Wistar Ambassadors next event will be "Eat, Date, Dance, Drink and Cure Cancer" a cocktail affair at the top of the Lowes Hotel on October 16th.
