Awesome close up video of a red dragonfly by my pond. I used a Canon 5d and Canon's MP 65 Macro lens. It took a lot of time to get up close to this dragonfly. This macro lens only focus 4" or closer to the subject. I am literally right on top of my subject. To properly use this lens you have to move the camera since there is no focus control.

I shot this test with the Canon 1DC and Convergent Design's Odyssey 7Q. With the 1DC you can record clean video via HDMI to an the 7Q. The results are pretty amazing especially because it's through HDMI! What I also love is that it's a HD 8-bit 4:2:2 uncompress DPX file vs a HD 8-bit 4:2:0 quicktime file! More tests will be coming your way with the external recording of the 1DC! • Springtime Sunrise - In Ely (Panasonic TM900 & Canon 7D)

                    from Andy Wilkinson / Added

Filmed over 3 hours on Monday just north of Cambridge at Ely - around the Cathedral, Cherry Hill and down by the River Great Ouse. Shot mostly with Panasonic TM900 in 1080p50 but also Canon 7D plus Canon 100mm Macro IS and Canon 70-200mm IS for the few flower shots in my garden back at home. Full manual on both cams and using a Libec TH650 Tripod. I actually used my new Rode Videomic Pro too (but did not incorporate any of the bird sound in this film). This was due to the still air in the first hour or so after sunrise carrying much of the unwanted traffic and train noise into this small, still medieval looking, area within the centre of Ely. Some shots demonstrate the 20x iZoom capability of the TM900 well - see some of my other films on YouTube for further examples, one of which I link for convenience. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=sh7dS8bsL-I Just a couple of shots where I was very slightly off with my exposure, despite using the excellent Zebras, Histogram and Exposure % Indicators on the Panasonic. Some of the early shots were taken at about 6.00AM in pretty dim light too! You'll also see a few close up shots with my Canon 7D and the lovely Canon 100mm Macro IS with it's wonderful bokeh. Note the Quince flowers (we have two old examples of these unusual trees in our back garden). Edited in Vegas in a 1080p50 timeline and converted to a 1080p25 file (in this case a 10Mbps .mp4 file) for Vimeo uploading. Sure, the Vimeo compression to 720p takes its toll - less sharp, a little less latitude than the Master file (but better shadow detail in the early low light shots than the YouTube version). Also, some line twitter appeared that was not on the final cut Master (but again less than YT). However, some shots with very slow panning etc. no longer play as smoothly as they do on the YT version or my Master versions. I'm not too happy with the sound quality on this upload either (my levels were perfect on the Master and come across fine on YT). Mind you, this was a 243MB file, not the 2GB version I uploaded to YT. At least you get to see the film on Vimeo! If you want to view in Full 1080p and compare them side by side, see here: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=CAZ8nASItXQ Music is a copyright free/royalty free purchase called Zen Woods (this is the alternative version).
