Cave In is a US Teli-Feature set in a flooded coal mine in Pennsylvania USA. This 'based on a true story' tale recreated the events leading up to the accident and the ensuing rescue mission. The film was shot on location and in studios in Auckland New Zealand. All of the coal mine scenes were created as sets and involved building a labyrinth of tunnels, shafts, elevators etc.. The project involved some large and miniature physical FX and involved building a concrete weir/SPFX pool for flooding tunnels. Director- Rex Piano (USA) Producer- Jozsef Fitzeus Film Co- Daybreak Pacific

From the Extras DVD, this is from the 2nd show that was filmed for the doc. RJ Paganini and I jammed down to Orange County to film this show at an all-ages club that graced every square inch of their walls with band t-shirts. Once Cave In came out to do "Juugernaut" as an encore, the vibe of this club's history swirled into life. So rad.

                    • Return To The Midway Country Motel

2 years after I first visited and filmed the abandoned Midway Country Motel, I went back to check out what had changed. I tried to catch a few spots that would be familiar to people who've watched the original video to show how time's changed things, but I didn't want this to be a rehash of something I've already done, so there are only a few of those types of shots. Mostly, I wanted the challenge of trying to capture the same place in the different way. The motel's the most popular abandoned place video I've done, with over 2000 views online (between here and YouTube as of today) and with the size of the motel site, it gives a good variety of things to capture and lots of different ways to frame things. I'd been meaning to make a trip back to film for a little while, but one thing or another just got in the way. I was glad to see the building was still standing, but it was pretty obvious when I got there that 2 years had passed since I'd been there last. Some parts of the of the roof and walls are caved in that weren't before, and people have also damaged the motel more, looting, tagging and breaking things. I don't think they'll be re-opening for business anytime soon. (You can check out the video I did 2 years ago here: https://vimeo.com/11423425) Filmed July 31st, 2012 on my Canon XA10.
