John the Baptist called people to repent, to clear the decks, to completely reorder their lives so that nothing would get in the way of the Lord’s coming. In our baptisms we are called, with John, to be heralds of King Jesus, to lift our voices fearlessly to say, “See, your God is coming!” We say it to one another in worship, in order to say it with our lives in a world in need of peace and justice. Come, Lord Jesus! Come quickly! Recorded December 7, 2014, 10:45 AM worship service from CLC's Sanctuary. "The Promise Prepared" (Mark 1:1-8). Pastor Luther Brunette. Sermon Series: "Celebrate the Promise (Advent & Christmas 2014)."

Rabbi Greg Hershberg - In this message Rabbi Greg gives three examples of Biblical fathers, and shares about the most phenomenal Father of all, our Heavenly Father. This message focuses on the love and compassion that Abba has for His creation, and especially those who are lost and prodigals. This is a message that should be shared with those you know who have not received Yeshua as their Messiah. The song referred to at the beginning of the message is entitled, "Father of the Fatherless," (http://alturl.com/6wofu - listen at 4/min, 4/sec), written and sang by Jason Upton.

Shaykh al-Islaam Ibn Taymiyah (may Allaah have mercy on him) said in his book Iqtidaa' al-siraat al-mustaqeem mukhaalifat ashaab al-jaheem: "Imitating them (the disbelievers) in some of their festivals implies that one is pleased with their false beliefs and practices, and gives them the hope that they may have the opportunity to humiliate and mislead the weak." Ibn al-Qayyim, may Allaah have mercy on him, said in Ahkaam Ahl al-Dhimmah: "Congratulating the kuffaar on the rituals that belong only to them is haraam by consensus, as is congratulating them on their festivals and fasts by saying 'A happy festival to you' or 'May you enjoy your festival,' and so on. If the one who says this has been saved from kufr, it is still forbidden. It is like congratulating someone for prostrating to the cross, or even worse than that. It is as great a sin as congratulating someone for drinking wine, or murdering someone, or having illicit sexual relations, and so on. Many of those who have no respect for their religion fall into this error; they do not realize the offensiveness of their actions. Whoever congratulates a person for his disobedience or bid'ah or kufr exposes himself to the wrath and anger of Allaah."
