A beautiful Saturday in St. Augustine, Florida - - what better thing to be doing than touch and goes at the airport? Cessna 182, N2494E, flown by William Kent, doing touch and goes Runway 13. For several weeks business, business travel and ill health had kept me from flying. It was great to be back in the air. My flight instructor, Francesco Ausenda, to whom I owe so much has been hired by American Eagle and has moved to Dallas. I will miss him but wish him all the best in his new position. He will make a terrific pilot for American! They are lucky to have him.

We flew over to Bainbridge, Georgia today, January 23, 2011, then down to Tallahassee, Florida to look at two aircraft for sale, a Beech Bonanza for sale in Bainbridge, and a Turbo Cessna 210 in Tallahassee. I flew the 210 for some practice and landed it and really liked the feel of it. Then we headed back to St. Augustine. Coming back we flew at 9,500 feet for a favorable tailwind, and averaged about 175-180 MPH ground speed. This video is of the approach and landing at St. Augustine, Runway 13. It was a cold, but clear and calm night to fly.

Ken Stockdale and Bill Kent flew over to Bainbridge, Georgia today, January 23, 2011. A beautiful day, sunny and cold. We looked at a Beech Bonanza that is for sale there, then flew back down to Tallahassee to look at a Turbo Cessna 210 that is for sale. Both are very nice aircraft. I got to test fly the Turbo 210 out to a practice area to see how it handled then got to land it. It has a nice feel to it. This short video is our departure from Tallahassee after the test flight in the Cessna 210 on our way back to St. Augustine. We had a peaceful and beautiful night flight back at 9,500 feet where we got a bit of a tail wind and made about 175-180 MPH on the way back. We were flying a Cessna 182, N2494E.

Testing the autopilot on the ILS approach Runway 36R at Cecil Field, Florida KVQQ. William Kent, pilot, Francesco Ausenda, CFII (Florida Flyers Flight School, St. Augustine) in the right seat, and Wayne Henderson, former Navy A7 carrier pilot and CFII, in the back seat. It was a beatiful late fall afternoon, the day before Thanksgiving, November 24, 2010. After we tried three approaches we did a full stop and taxied to the FBO for a coke and popcorn. While we were there two Marine Corps F-18s landed and taxied up to the FBO. We got ear plugs and went out and watched them, then got to talk to the pilots and even got a look inside the F-18. That was a thrill.
