Whilst in the US recording a new show for Zacuto I took my 5d and the new Zacuto "Tactical Shooter" to the mean streets of Chicago for the "60th Annual Old Town Art Fair". Last time I shot a short on the 5d was for "Sofia's People" with just one 50mm lens. This time I took a whole bag of lenses to try out some new stuff. Including a Shift Tilt 24mm Canon f3.5, an IS 70-200mm and a few others. Please read my blog at http://philipbloom.co.uk/2009/06/18/new-web-series-and-new-short-film-on-canon-5d-mkii-the-art-fair/ for more info. Ungraded and converted to 25p in Compressor. Full 1080p version available for download.

      • The Legacy of KA-BAR Knives

From its origins just across the Allegheny River in Tidioute, PA, in the late 1800s, to its present-day manufacturing plant in Olean, NY, KA-BAR has consistently made some of the best hunting, survival and sporting knives in the world. The KA-BAR name became famous during WWII when its Fighting Utility Knife became standard issue for Marines shipping out to the South Pacific; the knife’s performance in the battle for Guadalcanal cemented the legacy of KA-BAR. The company may be more than a century old, but its emerging marketing philosophy is (if you’ll forgive the pun) cutting edge: No more old media, just badass branded entertainment for the Web. Enter Common Machine. KA-BAR asked us for an overview video that touched on the brand’s 100-plus-year history, its commitment to making high quality knives here in the USA and the range of knives in its product line. We’re proud to present what has become known within the company as “Episode One.” We think it’s right on point. www.ka-bar.com www.commonmachine.com Produced and Directed by: Brett O'Bourke Shot and Edited by: Jorge Rubiera Music: Jorge Rubiera, Max Johnston, Edward Adamas

Oak Street Bootmakers - Designed in Chicago, handmade in Maine. LEGACY The son of a cobbler, Oak Street Bootmakers founder and designer George Vlagos apprenticed at his father’s shop where he learned the craft of shoemaking from an early age. Today, George seeks to preserve the heritage of fine shoemaking through thoughtfully designed and attentively crafted shoes. CRAFTSMANSHIP All Oak Street shoes and boots are handcrafted in the USA by shoemakers with over 20 years of experience. The highest standards of production are employed to yield shoes that are as durable as they are comfortable. Each pair makes use of replaceable outsoles, a feature normally reserved for formal footwear, to ensure a lifetime of wear. QUALITY Oak Street shoes and boots are constructed from renowned Horween Chromexcel leather. Chromexcel undergoes 89 separate processes taking 28 days and utilizing all five floors of the Horween facility in Chicago. Over the past 100 years very little has changed in the formula. Food-grade beef tallow, cosmetic-grade beeswax, marine oil, chrome salts, tree bark extracts, and naturally occurring pigments are combined. The mixture is then applied using heat, steam pressure, the hands of craftsmen and time. This ultimately yields the soft, supple and durable leather that is used for your shoes or boots.
