1. Why Māui Snared The Sun

    from Oiwi TV Added

Long ago, Kalā (the sun) raced across the sky as he pleased, leaving the land and its people with short days and long, dark nights. Among those suffering from the lack of daylight was the goddess Hina, mother of the demigod Māui. In order to make things pono (right), Māui summons all his courage and travels to the highest summit of Haleakalā, where he confronts the mighty Kalā. In central New York, an estimated 166,300 children, nearly two out of three kids under the age of 18, will experience at least one traumatic event during their childhood. The resulting traumatic stress can negatively impact children for rest of their lives, particularly for those under age 5. Nationally-recognized childhood trauma experts discussed the impact of trauma and how individuals, families and organizations throughout the central New York region can provide the services and support needed to help these young children build up resilience at “Resilience to the Rescue! Conquering Kids’ Trauma” November 8, 2011 at the Sheraton University Hotel and Conference Center in Syracuse, NY. A live webcast was also broadcast to sites in Ithaca and Utica, NY.
