Here’s my latest reel showcasing work from the past few months. Even in such a short time span I’ve worked with a lot of amazing folks including but not limited to Arts in Context, KLRU, Les Rav, Blue Lapis Light, The Hollywood Reporter, Robert Griffin III, The Velvet Cartel and many more! If you or anyone you know is looking for someone to help them make a video, let me know! I’m looking to expand the number of people I work with, so any help getting the word out is much appreciated. Please download original 4K file for best quality. Oh, and if you liked this and would like to see more please throw a little something into the Tip Jar! I did this in my free time just for fun but every little bit is appreciated! Shot entirely on the Panasonic GH4 within the past three weeks. Here's my setup: Metabones Speed Booster Sigma 18-35 f1.8 Nikon 50mm f1.8 Nikon 85mm f1.8 The one macro close-up of the hourglass was a vintage Nikon 55mm macro lens. I tried to mix up the footage. There's lots of 4K stuff but also some 1080p 96fps stuff. Most of it was shot using the CineLike D profile with sharpness and contrast turned down to -5. Some shots used CineLike V with no adjustments. If I know I'm going to be editing the footage I always use CineLike D. If I'm delivering to a client who I know doesn't want to grade the footage too much I use CineLike V. Edited in Premiere Pro CC. Graded in Davinci Resolve. For a lot of the shots I simply used a 3D LUT built into Resolve. If you'd like to collaborate on a project and you're in the Austin, TX area email me at chris [dot] kim [dot] 518 [at] gmail [dot] com.

I'm a writer, director, editor, cinematographer, and motion graphics artist. I'd love to help you on your project! I'm also the co-creator/writer/director of Hardly Sound. It's a music documentary series over on KLRU, Austin PBS. It's kind of a weird show. It's as much a series of personal essay as it is a traditional documentary. I like how Tribeza Magazine put it: "[They explore] the musician's story as an emblem for universal struggles and triumphs of artists of all media." Whatever grand idea or project you have, I'm sure I could help in some way with my many years of production experience. Contact me any time at chris@hardlysound.com! Music by Royal Forest.

This is it, folks. The finale of our first season. I would love to wax nostalgic about what an insane ride it's been but, honestly, right now I'm just exhausted. That's what happens when you make a TV show with just a handful of people. I was worried about this episode for a long time. I didn't know what the story was, and I was wondering if we were ending our season the right way. What I learned was that Ralph White is the perfect artist to wrap up our season. He embodies so much of what Hardly Sound is about. I won't say more than that. I will say that this episode ended up being the most personal one yet, and that I cried recording the voiceover. (Don't worry, I used the takes where I wasn't crying.) Making this show has been one of the most difficult, foolish, stressful, and rewarding things I've ever done in my life. It sure was fun.

                      What are Tags?

                      Tags

Tags are keywords that describe videos. For example, a video of your Hawaiian vacation might be tagged with "Hawaii," "beach," "surfing," and "sunburn."
