      • Boogie Woogie // Main Title

Rushes & AP Design bring a Mondrian to life for Boogie Woogie. If ever there was an artists paintings that were perfect for animating by a motion graphics artist then is would be a work by Mondrian. Perfect geometric lines and right angles, connected together by vibrant blocks of colour. The animation was broken down between Matt Lawrence in After Effects and Alan Williamson using Maya. Working closely with Alan, Matt planned the reveal of the lettering and animated the letters both writing on and writing off. Alan then match moved his extruded lines in Maya to Matt's timings hitting the letters at the correct point to give the illusion of continuous movement. The room itself was rebuilt in 3D to give us more freedom with the camera move and to make the compositing job easier. The painting blocks themselves were also animated in After Effects and matched timed to the 3D lines. The final result is a very distinctive title sequence that fits the mood of the film perfectly.

You know when you get one of them videos on a BMX site and you think "why the hell did I just watch that" well this is one of them. Nothing serious about this, I was just out riding with the guys testing a few cameras out for the crack and I had a load of clips lying about on my Mac. I started editing this last year but never really wanted to put it out there, it was just a bit of a joke on hence why I selected Whitney Houston - I Wanna Dance With Somebody as the sound track, a wicked tune from the 80's was always going to suit this down to the ground. Well with the unfortunate death of Whitney I decided that there is two reasons why im going to stick this up on here, one in tribute to an 80's legend and the other is so that finally Rob 'Danger' Cairns can get to see his big 3 down the Baltic set in Gateshead. Enjoy!
