    • The Power Within (Chronicle Tribute)

      from Marcel Harris Added 600 16 8

Inspired by the movie "Chronicle," this project is a demonstration of one of the many skills that we humans are capable of. Can you guess what skill that is? I'll let you think about that for a second... That skill is creativity and the the ability to do what ever you set your mind to. When I was first introduced to the movie Chronicle I was immediately blow away! I was entirely wrapped up in the story and amazed at how realistic the movie was. I feel that the fact that the entire movie was "filmed" by one of the main characters helped sell the over all plot and allowed me as a viewer to connect on a more personal level to the cast. I've always wondered what it would be like to have super powers but I didn't know how I would go about obtaining them; needless to say, after watching the movie I wanted my own super powers more now than ever! I was then presented with an opportunity to conceptualize and produce a project that allowed me to demonstrate my powers from my Motion Graphics Project class at Full Sail University. After going through all the powers of which to demonstrate, it hit me! I wanted to fly. I wanted to experience that feeling of freedom and power and then show that to the world. This project turned out to not only show my flying abilities, but my ability create, execute and polish the concepts that arise in my creative mind. I would like to say thank you to all those who gave me feedback on how to better this project; please enjoy and let me know what you think!

      • Pulse | Short Film

from Mike Gentilini, Jr. Added 1,616 20 7

I recently produced this short film to try and inspire other film makers. I love watching action / sci-fi movies, so I thought, let's make one. Pulse can to mind after watching the movie Chronicle (2012). I wanted to make something with similar effects from Chronicle, but with my own twist on it. I was able to have a a lot of my filmmaker buddies help out with the making of Pulse. There were 16 guys on crew. We shot everything in one day. Then I took about 75 hours, give or take, during the post production process. Anything from creating and filming special effects plates, to creating cg visual effects, to recording sound effects to recording ADR. This stuff is what I love. The effects were the important part of this film. Explosions, grenades, guns and muzzle flashes. What more could you possible want in a movie? I also wanted to put my actors to the test with a torture scene. Having some intense moments during a film is a must to keep your audience engaged. I'll be planning on releasing a few "behind the scenes" videos over the next several weeks showing how we made Pulse. If anyone has any questions, hit me up!

              • Chronicle Spider

                from Chris Allen Added 92 1 3

So glad to be done with one... Nothing like looking at a screen with a fake spider on it only to look over and see a real spider crawling on the wall to make you question your sanity. Anyways, ever since I watched Chronicle for the first time there were plenty of effects that I wanted to try to recreate from it. This one though was one of my favorites and proved a bigger challenge for me since it involved creating and rigging a spider and doing a few other things outside of the rig. Along with keeping my theme of trying to comp 3D elements into real footage. But after messing around with the character tool in C4D i got a close enough result to what i wanted and decided to move forward from there. Did a lot of research about Animation clips, baking, but after all of that I feel pretty good about simple character animation. Also tried to mess around with Bodypaint and texture mapping... that didnt go so well, so hopefully over the next few months I can learn a bit more about that side of Cinema. Then since I never have anyone to shoot for me or anyone to shoot, i tried a bit of smoke and mirrors in after effects to give a subtle move to the scene instead of just the boring tripod shot that it was when it was originally shot. As always leave feedback please, always want to get better and critiques help me out quite a bit.
