                    At the Secession DIANA AL-HADID presents her most recent ensemble, The Fates, which comprises large sculptures and two inset panels for which she took inspiration from classical sculpture and European—more particularly, early northern Renaissance—painting. UTOPIAN PULSE– FLARES IN THE DARKROOM a research project by Ines Doujak and Oliver Ressler in collaboration with a group of international artist-curators follows utopian projections that serve the purposes of secession from and resistance to our particular present. Utopia, rather, is the assertion of the unrealized in and against the real. CINTHIA MARCELLE stages situations and performative acts in public spaces, interventions designed to transform quotidian actions into poetic events. For her installation Dust Never Sleeps she sprays loose particles of dust into clearly delimited spaces, where they settle to demarcate a new space. At the same time, the deposited layers of dust and grime embody the materialization of time. September 11 – November 2, 2014. DIANA AL-HADID zeigt in der SECESSION ihre jüngste Werkgruppe The Fates [Die Parzen], die aus großformatigen Skulpturen und zwei Wandbildern besteht. Als Inspirationsquelle dienen Al-Hadid Plastiken der klassischen Antike sowie die europäische Malerei, insbesondere jene der frühen Renaissance nördlich der Alpen. UTOPIAN PULSE– FLARES IN THE DARKROOM, ein Forschungsprojekt von Ines Doujak und Oliver Ressler – in Zusammenarbeit mit einer Gruppe von internationalen Künstler-KuratorInnen – erkundet utopische Projektionen, die der Abspaltung – der Sezession – von unserer konkreten Gegenwart und dem Widerstand gegen sie dienen könnten, die Behauptung des Unrealisierten im Realen und gegen das Reale. CINTHIA MARCELLE inszeniert Situationen und performative Aktionen in öffentlichen Räumen, um mit diesen Interventionen Alltagshandlungen in poetische Ereignisse zu transformieren. Für ihre Installation Dust Never Sleeps verwendet sie Staub als Material. Die losen Partikel werden in klar abgegrenzte Räume gesprüht und markieren, sobald sie sich gesetzt haben, einen neuen Raum. Die abgelagerten Schichten von Staub und Schmutz verkörpern zugleich die Materialisierung von Zeit. 11. September – 2. November 2014.
