"System Error: ID not found" represents a young, hopeful individual, who is being misunderstood and dehumanized by institutional entities as he expresses his identity. We are trying to create an atmosphere where the viewer can sense and feel solitude, disrespect, emptiness and lack of empathy for fellow individuals – all feelings we are sad to say we feel as European citizens. The young person is aiming to represent European citizenship as we believe it should be; a new gateway to cultural diversity, a path to endless possibilities. An opportunity for truly being who you feel you are, in your mind and soul, and having support of an institution to manifest and express your personality, ambitions, ideas, desires and everything else that forms one’s identity. We must point out, that these are our hopes and beliefs of what European citizenship has the ability to represent, however, and we see this as very unfortunate, this is not reality. What too many young European citizens feel as reality is that we are tiny and unimportant, that we are individuals against the system, against massive and heartless institutions, which are making us invisible. The institution of the European Union is special, like no other, and we think that only by fully understanding it, Europeans as a collective nation, can recognize our similarities and difference. Such actions can lead to enabling genuine respect for each other and together we could participate in creating a Europe within which we will feel comfortable, accepted and heard. Then, we will feel we matter. We must try to embrace each other as individuals and as a nation; to truly have the opportunity to overcome religious, cultural and institutional barriers, and build a new and positive form of the institution of the European Union. A form in which having a European citizenship will be an honourable and prized possession.
