"COGNITION" (sometimes the less you know about yourself the better...) A wealthy late twenties socialite is forced to take a psych exam in order to take over his late father's multi-million dollar corporation. But when the therapist goes missing the young socialite becomes the prime suspect. Cognition is a rich Neo/noir character study based on one mans life (Bruce Wayne) and how he effects everyone around him.

The b-Reactable is a collaborative music system that combines implicit interaction based on physiology sensors (EEG and heart rate) and explicit interaction based on the Reactable, a tabletop interface for real-time music performance. This multimodal system displays brain and body signals through sound, graphics and physical objects (physiopucks) which can be manipulated by physiology emitters and their partners. This work is part of my PhD project on Physiology-driven Tangible Objects for Music Collaboration in Multimodal Tabletop Interfaces. b-Reactable is part of the Teclepathy Project: Mechanisms of unconscious communication in collaborative work environments (http://mtg.upf.edu/research/interaction/projects?p=Teclepathy) Publication at NIME2011: http://www.nime2011.org/proceedings/papers/D02-Mealla.pdf ---------- CREDITS Sebastián Mealla C. The aim of this project is to explore an alternative to personalized network data profiles, the fundaments of the filter bubble. The alternative proposed is the incorporation of a temporal and dynamic profile based on the emotion of the user. Thus giving a new perspective on human relations; people would in theory obtain the opportunity to connect based on emotions, in stead of common interest or other. This project explores the possibilities, available technologies and current research with regards to measuring and combining emotions. And finally in doing so, this paper wil hypothesize the possible outcome of an emotion-network. Also check out our blog which keeps track of the developments of our project. http://emotionsnetwork.blogspot.nl/

In the first wave of HCI, humans and cognition were studied to improve productivity and efficiency as if they were computers themselves. Their environments and emotions went unexplored. The GOMS (Goals, Operations, Methods and Selection Rules) model was an observation tool. During the third wave, Jeff Bardzell's HCI Foundation's students at Indiana University studied the history of HCI and GOMS. The students transformed from bright insightful students into sad desolate users stripped of joy and dreams. This video set to The Cranberrie's Zombie song is a dedication to all the users who feel demeaned by HCI's first wave's inability to recognize humanity. This video in no way reflects the views and beliefs of Indiana University, The School of Informatics, Jeff Bardzell, Lynn Dombrowski or HCId (but we're pretty sure GOMS depresses them too).
