Cult Australian fashion label ksubi, toast the long awaited return of their coloured denim range, with a short film directed by Australian director Daniel Askill. kolors is a fume-fuelled, slow-motion battle between three colour-clad models and a trio of ‘80s muscle cars. With the ksubi team securing the very last sets of limited edition coloured tyres by Kumho available in Australia they then enlisted Askill and his team at Collider to fuse the vivid smoke with the spectral denim range. Models Bambi Northwood-Blythe, Cisco Gorrow and Heidi Harrington-Johnson act as modern-day matadors to the rumbling Ford's that attempts to hunt them down while the girls soar above the cars to an operatic soundtrack. Shot next to Sydney’s Kingsford Smith International Airport in barren industrial wasteland that car fanatics converge on after dark and with a Phantom camera, Askill captures each and every denim movement and smoke billow at 1500 frames per second.

We were asked by our good friends at ManvsMachine to help create their Collider concept for Discovery Science. The making of the SCI 'Collider' ident. Working from numerous references, we created the interior/lab and higly detailed collider/accelerator model before focusing on the visual effects for the evolving substance and rocks/crystals the collider seemingly creates. The tweezers and gloved hand that enter the frame are shot elements that we did against greenscreen in the studio. The effect of element/rocks that form and evolve was created with a combination of morph targets, Krakatoa volume filled Rayfire fragments and carefully chosen keyframes for each evolution stage to take place. 3DSmax Vray FumeFX Krakatoa AfterFX Nuke Directed by - ManvsMachine VFX | Production - Analog

Created for Eyeo Festival. Made with Cinder. libcinder.org More information at roberthodgin.com/eyeo-2012 This is a rendered version of a real-time project. This version features a max of 5000 particles (I think) whereas the current realtime version can only handle about 1000 to 1250. However, this project is currently using no distance calculation optimizations so the particle count for the realtime version should be able to hit 5000 with little degradation to the behavior. Also, much of the work load can likely be passed to the GPU so much higher particle counts can be achieved. Audio by Hilmar Örn Hilmarsson and Sigur Ros. In this short documentary film produced by Kirsten Stanisich and Andrea Nixon, six of Australia’s most successful designers under the age of 40 got together to discuss parallels in their work, spanning fashion, interiors and graphics. The line-up was: Andrew van der Westhuysen (graphic designer, 3D animator and co-owner of Collider, recently listed in the Power 20 issue of Australian Creative); Andrew and Mark Moffit (twin art directors of Moffit.Moffit); Matthew Herbert (Melbourne-based architect who designs retail spaces for innovative brands like Ksubi, Mimco, Roy); Therese Rawsthorne (fashion designer and retailer); Kelvin Ho (architect with a instinct for retail brand design: The Corner Store, Sass and Bide, Incu). This was an insightful account of the current issues facing local creatives, from sustainability, celebrity cultism and commercial success to the perennial global-versus-local conundrum. The film is a not-for-profit initiative by the Design Institute of Australia.
