                • The Grind | "The Dream Shall Never Die"

from Colorado State Rams Added 39 2 2

"The Dream Shall Never Die" is the first episode in the second season of our webisode series, "The Grind." Despite the fact that the footage was shot during several days spanning the course of two months, this was a single day edit. There's footage I don't like, lighting I can't stand and audio (run and gun) that I'm embarrassed about. I thought I'd finished, but quickly realized this feature was in need of something else. After some research, I found Ted Kennedy's 1980 Democratic National Convention Speech "The Dream Shall Never Die," and instantly the video's production quality and impact was elevated. The speech ran parallel with what our team was going through and supported the story telling as well as any speech I've ever come across. "First Day in Pads" is both a promotional tease for the second webisode of our YouTube series, "The Grind" and an addition to our "Instant Reaction" playlist. Unfortunately, getting as close as I was to the action hindered my ability to realize that the sky was overexposed. Instant Reactions videos don't require a lot of editing or graphics. In fact, the idea is to race to put something out, while still maintaining production standards. In any case, the video was a success and found its way on several sports specific websites.

                    • The Grind | "Physical Education"

from Colorado State Rams Added 28 2 0

All three interviewees were first-timers on our video series, "The Grind". The did well in answering questions, but had I known the webisode's primary focus would have been centered on the sport's physical nature, I would have chosen deeper voices. I was so close to the action that my focus was on not getting hit rather than the overexposed sky. Fortunately, our head coach gave an excellent speech that tied the entire video together. The team meeting audio is awful. I'm beginning to think our camera needs to go in to get serviced. Equipment: Panasonic AF100 & Nikon D3100 Edited in Adobe Premiere Pro CC
