      The International School Award (ISA) celebrates the dedication of UK teachers who work to forge links with schools across the world and internationalise their pupils’ education. Run by the British Council and funded by the Department of Children, Schools and Families with the support of the UK's devolved administrations, the award celebrated its 10th anniversary this year. To date the British Council has helped create 2,700 international school links. Bringing this international dimension to the classroom both stimulates learning and helps equip young people with the skills and understanding to live and work in a global society after school.

        In February 2015, two teachers from Henleaze Junior School spent a week in Uganda, visiting our partner school, Kasongoire Primary School. It is a rural school, surrounded by sugar cane plantations. This short film gives a flavour of life in school, and a glimpse of the homes the children come from.

                  The Chairman of the Kasongoire Primary School PTA greets the parents of Henleaze Junior School. He is standing in front of the brick shell which will soon, with the help of the Henleaze community, become an office for the Headteacher and a library for the children. At present, the school has no reading books for the children, and nowhere to keep books if they had any. This building was started 7 years ago, and has stood like this for the last 5 years.
