    • The Purity Myth Trailer

      03:37

from Media Education Foundation / Added

Produced & Distributed by the Media Education Foundation Featuring Jessica Valenti In this video adaptation of her bestselling book, pioneering feminist blogger Jessica Valenti trains her sights on "the virginity movement" -- an unholy alliance of evangelical Christians, right-wing politicians, and conservative policy intellectuals who have been exploiting irrational fears about women's sexuality to roll back women's rights. From dad-and-daughter "purity balls," taxpayer-funded abstinence-only curricula, and political attacks on Planned Parenthood, to recent attempts by legislators to de-fund women's reproductive health care and narrow the legal definition of rape, Valenti identifies a single, unifying assumption: the myth that the worth of a woman depends on what she does -- or does not do -- sexually. In the end, Valenti argues that the health and well-being of women are too important to be left to ideologues bent on vilifying feminism and undermining women's autonomy.

This is a summer campaign for Comedy Central. Or at least that was the assignment we were given in class. Our class was put into three teams and each team got a network brand to work with. Syfy, Speed Network, and Comedy Central. Our team was given the new Comedy Central brand to work with. The assignment was to create a ten second promo spot for a campaign that advertises that the network would be playing new programming during the summer that is normally dominated by reruns. Part two of the assignment was for each person in the group to create a 3 second stinger that is part of the same campaign package. Our team decided to use some of the risque force of the new brand and went with a theme of "contraception." Following some of the new branding guidelines from Comedy Central and some of our own, we created this reel with our ten second spot and our individual stingers. Music is "Balloons (Camo UFOs Remix)" by Them Jeans Each member of the team was assigned a role decided by us. Our team was as follows: Marc Secher - Art Director Vish Kumar - Technical Director Keaton Tips - Animation Director Nick Acton - Production Director Also, special thanks to Justin Rat & Paul Lee for some of the photo stock.
