PLANETARY is a feature length documentary that expands on the mind-blowing perspective shared by astronauts and indigenous elders alike — that each and every one of us is inseparable from each other, the planet and the universe as a whole, a realisation that is both humbling and comforting. If more of us start to experience the simple truth of our interdependence and connection, we believe there is hope for the next stage in our human journey. PLANETARY is meant to inspire awe and wonder by seeing things as they are, placing our individual stories in the context of the larger planetary / cosmic story. I've recently discovered an animation that was rendered using the measured redshift of all 10,000 galaxies in the Hubble Ultra Deep Field image. I've written a short script that leads you through a quick history of both deep field images and this video ends with a fly-through of the Ultra Deep Field. Every galaxy in the image is in its proper distance as viewed from the telescope line of sight. As if this image wasn't amazing enough.

“Entheogen”… a psychedelic spiraling fractal animation music video by visual artist Leah McNeir ( http://celestialdreams.wordpress.com ) with music by Robert C. Arnold( https://www.facebook.com/pages/Robert-C-Arnold/207431024690 ). This fractal video animation represents a thought experiment of sorts. Using the medium of the fractal flame, i sought to explore and portray the concepts of- Unity. Duality. Balance. Polarity. Multiplicity. Pattern. Interaction. Emergence. Transcendence. Transformation. Above and Below. Inner Space and Outer Space. Temporal and Eternal. Chaos and Cosmos.

This is Carl Sagan’s famous short essay, A Pale Blue Dot, as presented on the TV series, “Cosmos: A Spacetime Odyssey” I wanted to post this because, to this day, I think this is one of the most profound statements ever made about who we are and our place in the universe. Yes, I ripped this from my Blu-ray copy I just purchased of the series. It the copyright holders may order it taken down since it is copyrighted material but, I hope they don’t and take it instead as one fan’s appreciation of Carl Sagan’s words.

The MAGIC telescopes and starry nights of the Roque de los Muchachos Observatory, at the top of a caldera on the Canary island of La Palma. Starlights are reflected in the giant dishes, each 17 m wide. The multi-mirrored telescope pair observes gamma rays indirectly by detecting brief flashes of optical light, called Cherenkov light. For inquiries contact me at btafreshi@twanight.org. The clips are available in HD, 2K and 4K, also on National Geographic motions (www.natgeomotion.com, search tafreshi).
