Costa, makers of the clearest & raddest fishing sunglasses on the planet, asked us to tell the amazing story of their work in Guyana. The sport fishing industry relies on conservation, and they've jumped in with both feet. We took inspiration from the art, colours, and music of Guyana to create this mixed perspective tour of the jungle, and the wildlife that live there. Voiced by the hunky John Corbett. We had the amazing chance to work with Costa again on this piece to spearhead their #Kickplastic campaign. Costa makes the clearest sunglasses on the planet for the sport fishing industry. Because healthy fish rely on healthy oceans, Costa is working hard to raise awareness about our overuse, and poor disposal, of plastics. The challenge was to communicate an environmentalist message to a right-leaning audience. We landed on a treatment absent of any emotionally manipulative voice over, and used a series of facts on screen to communicate the story. This was a spur of the moment project, shot during my recent vacation to Costa Rica. My good friend Jason Soares took me to a part of town that most people don't see, and introduced me to a woman named Rebecca "Bleu" Oleson. Bleu, along with a local church, has been helping to bring education to this underprivileged community. We were fortunate enough to be invited to their local Christmas Party and assist with the festivities. I was inspired by the dedication and passion Bleu had for these kids and wanted to document it. - shot with the 7d - 24mm lens - unscripted, not planned - only had the mic from the camera, so please excuse the sound. - edited on FCP during my flight home We have set up a Pay Pal account and will be collecting donations for the rest of the Holiday season. All donations will go directly to Bleu to help her keep doing what she's doing. If you are interested please visit: http://tiny.cc/bleu442

The wind outside is the source of sound; it is the whisper that will disrupt silence. This work consists of a set of sixteen bottles – with air blowers attached to each one of them – and a wind vane. The vane is fixed on the outside of a window and detects the direction the wind is blowing. Inside of the room, the motor starts blowing air into the bottle that corresponds to that particular direction. This event generates a smooth sound, and each direction has its own pitch. The bottles are arranged in a circle, similar to the shape of the compass rose, depicting the eight principal winds and the eight half-winds. The work explores the interaction of two invisible factors, sound and wind. It deals with the dialectics of scattered and shapeless coefficients that cannot be seen, but have an intrinsic need of existence, of being, and nothing more. To articulate these elements is to deal with the unknown, the unpredictable. It is a failed attempt to tame them, as they have an urge for expression. Gabriele d’Annunzio have said about the meaning of the wind, in a passage that named the present work: ‘And the wind was like the regret for what is no more, like the anxiety of creatures not yet formed, laden with memories, swollen with forebodings, made up of wounded souls and useless wings.’ Interactive Telecommunications Program @ New York University
