          • A Decision Aid to Prepare Patients And Their Families For Shared Decision-Making About Cardio-Pulmonary Resuscitation (CPR)

With generous support from Providence Health Care in Vancouver BC, this video was produced by Doug Nicolle with a fantastic scientific team: Jennifer Kryworuchko, Romayne Gallagher, Daren Heyland, and Rob Fowler. Here's the story: Canadian colleagues from CARENET (Canadian Researchers at the End of Life Network) collaborated to develop a video to support seriously ill patients and their families facing a decision about whether or not cardiopulmonary resuscitation (CPR) was a treatment that they wanted if their heart were to stop. The video decision aid was presented to the public at a CIHR Cafe Scientifique in Kingston ON in April 2010 and to members of the scientific community between Sept 2010 and Jan 2012. The development team reviewed the scientific literature to ensure that we included the most up to date evidence for outcomes of CPR in 2010 and again in 2012. With stakeholder feedback, the video was revised in early 2012 - this is the latest version. We hope you like it, and are constantly trying to improve communication to seriously ill patients and families on this topic. Please take the time to comment or email the development team at jennifer.kryworuchko@usask.ca. Thanks! Conflict of Interest? Nothing to declare. J. Kryworuchko holds a research grant to evaluate this project from Heart and Stroke Foundation of Canada. REFERENCES (for scientific data included) Dhaval et al.
