Project is taking inspiration from sediment layers and from effects of erosive processes in nature as well as from traditional shoe making techniques. Special construction method has been developed and used across the collection. Multiple layers of leather scrap pieces are added on the last and subsequently sanded down to achieve the final shape and unique colour pattern of the shoe. Colour scheme is influenced by old geological maps. Design and Concept: www.barboravesela.com

During a recent trip to England we were invited to tour Bentley's factory in Crewe and had the chance to get a behind-the-scenes look at how these luxury powerhouses are put together from start to finish. The hands-on plant offered a wildly different experience than other car manufacturing processes we have seen and, by relying on a level of manual precision machines can't always replicate, provided a fascinating example of the merge of technology and craftsmanship in creating truly luxurious custom automobiles. In Yonkers, NY, an extensive collection of piano cases, keys, pedals, bridges and strings reside in the Cantabile Piano Arts warehouse. Each part is waiting in queue to be utilized by a passionate team who work to repair, refinish and reconstruct vintage pianos. We spoke with Ivan Brunner, a piano-tuner who works on each instrument in its final stages—giving each piano its very own unique "voice." Through Brunner's intricate and precise artistry, CH had the opportunity to see the complexities at work beneath a piano's lid. See more of our videos at coolhunting.com/video
