A collaborative exhibition held at Cornerhouse in January 2010, by Jacob Cartwright and Nick Jordan, featuring a new film installation drawn from the writing of 19th Century artist & ornithologist John James Audubon. Filmed in the depths of winter, Cairo contrasts Audubon's intrepid story of Frontier America with its present day location: a desolate town in southern Illinois. Alongside the film, the artists present new drawing, found objects and ephemera relating to the town of Cairo, Audubon, and the landscape of America's Midwest. The exhibition will be accompanied by a new artists' publication The Audubon Trilogy: Delineations of American Scenery & Manners, a chapbook featuring a DVD featuring the short films Cairo, New Madrid and West Point (published by Dedecus).
