Rob, Darren and I all did the Top Tye this spring at a pretty high flow. Top Tye is a classic alpine creek with high quality goods just waiting to be stomped.

          • Ecuador Kayaking Feb 2011

            from Curtis Crabb Added 253 0 0

An Epic trip thanks to the people at Small World Adventures. Ecuador is arguably the best kayaking in the world. Some rivers are fed by snow melt from nearby and imminently threatening volcanos that reach heights of 18,000 ft above sea level. These rivers including the Jondachi and Quijos are also flow dependent on rain fall. While we visited in the middle of Feb most river levels were medium to medium high. This juiced the spice level a bit and kept you on your toes. I got just what I came for and finished one river with a gentle hole ride captured on film. Thanks again to everyone who was there, such an amazing experience and opportunity.

We headed up to Great Falls on January 22nd. It was 21 degrees, and freezing from the start. After one run of Maryland lines and a swim, we decided that we were done for the day. And chilled to the bone. Then we found ice, and lots of it. Two hours of fun ensued. There's a small bit about this on my blog: http://fluidglass.com/2011/02/bringing-this-blog-back-to-life/ Also, let me know if you like the headcam audio with the music or if it's too much.

Joey Vosburgh is a good friend with a passion for kayaking. This is one of his runs down the Illecillewaet river in Revelstoke, BC. The run is full of rebar and concrete due to a deactivated damn. Kind of intense run at times. Hope you like.
