            • Perihelion

              from Nick Cross Added 75.6K 1,246 52

Perihelion is a sort of animated tone poem. It is a short film that toes the line between narrative and non-narrative, essentially having no real beginning, middle or end. The idea being that you could start watching it at any point and it would (hopefully) have the same impact. Visually, I was heavily inspired by the work of a number of German painters from the early 20th century. Notably: Otto Dix, Richard Oelze, Ingrid Griebel-Zietlow, Rudolf Schlichter and Max Ernst, as well as Francisco Goya. This is sort of a tribute to the work of these artists living in a time of Fascism and impending war, which really informed their work in a distinct way. from David Coiffier Added 85.8K 283 36

This is a 2 minutes movie. All shots were made with a now old model of I-Movix hispeed camera (www.i-movix.com), in spring 2007. Almost all of them were shot at 1000FPS, except a close-up, around 1'36", which was captured at 3000FPS. Some pictures suffer CCD smear and debayering abberations, but the actual camera is far better and with no smear at all. I'll post some more pictures of hispeed cam soon... Enjoy, and feel free to leave any comment! D.

                      from mike beauchamp Added 25K 161 35

"The Cross Canada Project" attempts to document the experiences of long-distance bicycle touring. Using a specially designed weatherproof camera mounted to his bicycle, Mike Beauchamp is able to film himself without interruption in all conditions as he attempts to ride his bicycle over 7000 KM across Canada from the Pacific Ocean to the Atlantic Ocean. Along the way he practices "stealth camping", visits distant relatives, encounters strangers and other cyclists and explores abandoned houses. Set to an original soundtrack and using video diaries, recorded phone conversations and radio interviews, Mike illustrates the struggles of a touring cyclist and explores the vastness of the Canadian landscape... all for "something to do".
