It is a mix of live action and photographs made to show the link between Venice and the films shot in the city.       KanZeOn is part documentary, part sensory exploration of sound, revealing a rarely seen view of Japanese culture through ancient rituals and extraordinary musical spectacle. Largely shot in and around Kyushu, the film revolves around three figures for whom music and religion plays a central part in their lives – Akinobu Tatsumi, a young Buddhist priest who takes care of a temple near Kumamoto whilst spending his spare time as a hip-hop DJ and beatboxer; Eri Fujii, who draws upon the inspiration of nature in her mastery of the ancient Chinese instrument, the sho; and Noh theatre drummer and teacher, Akihiro Iitomi, who also happens to be a huge jazz fan.                     Three artists spent the summer of 2009 travelling, and decided to film each day of their travels to juxtapose the people and environments they met. They all moved across the European continent, as part of their projects, and met occasionally. Every day they would film a scenery for 10 minutes and a silent face for 2 minutes.                       BC Safety Authority keeps people safe by mandating the safe installation and use of technical equipment across the province. Outsidein Communications, a brand and strategy company brought us in to produce a video for the BC Safety Authority during an organization wide rebrand. Outsidein works with strategic partners like us to provide clients with a full suite of services. Over the course of a few days, we shot several interviews in locations around Greater Vancouver and across BC, capturing the essence of why employees enjoy working for the BCSA. We incorporated visual elements throughout the video in keeping with the new brand. The final pieces were shown in presentations and on the web. The video resonated with employees and captured the deep culture within the organization. Employees’ hearts and minds were engaged.
