1. X-Men: First Class Title Sequence

    from Joe D! Added 345K 2,252 139

Inspired by classic Sixties movie titles and prompted by John Struan of Super Punch fame, I've built a 1960s style title sequence for the upcoming X-Men: First Class film. Set during the midst of the Cuba Missile Crisis, X-Men: First Class tells the story of the first team coming together, before they would become the heroes and villains we know from the original X-Men Trilogy. This sequence was designed to give a very brief primer on the time period, the setting, as well as show the relationships of the characters in this film, as they are very different from the previous movies and audiences shouldn't be confused as to why Professor X and Magneto, enemies in the original trilogy, are the best of friends in this prequel. Super Punch held a contest redesigning the posters for the film, which played it safe by sticking very close to the correlation to the original trilogy, and winding up rather mundane compared to the slick trailer rife with espionage, red fear, and 60s hair. Several people were quick to make posters in the Mod, Saul Bass, and James Bond style that I had in mind, so it was decided that I'd make a title sequence instead. And yes, that music is a very melancholic rendition of the 90s cartoon theme song. Please visit SecretUndergroundHeadquarters.com and SuperPunch.blogspot.com for more awesomeness. Special thanks to Jessica Heaton, the World's Greatest Robot Girl.

    • Always on the road: Witnessing rays of hope in Detroit

from Oliver Schrott Kommunikation Added 108K 161 17

During the 2014 North American International Auto Show, we sent OSKNY’s resident blogger Steve Smith back to his hometown of Detroit. It’s said that the former automotive capital is facing big problems. The financial collapse of the city, the massive decline of residents and the numerous houses that are abandoned or destroyed are just a few of the sad stories you might have heard in the news recently. However, every crisis presents an opportunity. You see a glimmer of hope for the “D” when you take a closer look, do some on-site researching and speak with newly-arrived residents. While Steve was looking for signs and indicators of a Detroit comeback he was accompanied by time-lapse professional Eric Hines. Eric followed Steve on his editorial expedition through the city and created this time-lapse short film featuring some of the more notable spots in Detroit. Welcome to 'Mega from Behind'. Welcome to Alpe d'Huez. I dropped all my expectaitons as a racer and decided to start the Magavalanche as the last man on the hill. This is the prospective 'from behind'. This is maybe close to the prospective of an average rider racing the Mega. On my way down I catch people up who have some problems. Physically or technically or both. I talk with them about their situation, their feelings and their strategies for going down. As different people tell different stories I thought it was very intersting how positive everybody is and how unimportant the result actually is.
