A House, A Home When Adam Shearer from the band Weinland was approached to write a song for a benefit album he chose to write about James C Hawthorne, a 19th century Portland, Oregon physician who is remembered most for medical reform and his kindness to patients. Shearer enlisted the help of Adam Selzer (Norfolk & Western) and they wrote A House, A Home, a song that led to the formation of the band Alialujah Choir. This video begins at the last lines of A House, A Home and is about a love, a death, and another death that are reconciled in a subterranean world. music: Alialujah Choir (featuring Portland Cello Project) winner- Best Short Film, United Kingdom Film Festival, 2012 winner- Best Score, Australia Short Sharp Film Festival, 2012 winner- Best Music Video, International Film Festival Antigua Barbuda, 2012 winner- Audience Choice Award, Flatland Film Festival, 2012 winner- Platinum Reel Award, Lucerne International Film Festival, 2012 winner- Best Drama, Poppy Jasper International Short Film Festival, 2012 winner- Best Music Video, Columbia International Film Festival, 2012 winner- Best Music Video, Interrobang Film Festival, 2012 winner- Best Music Video, Silicon Valley Film Festival, 2012 winner- Silver Award, Oregon Film Awards, 2012 winner- Platinum Reel Award, Nevada Film Festival, 2012 winner- Best Music Video, Rumschpringe International Short Film Festival, 2012 winner- Best Editing, International Film Festival of Cinematic Arts winner- Art Direction, Accolade Competition, 2012 winner- Best Music Video, Philadelphia Film & Animation Festival, 2012 winner- Best Music Video, ONECLOUDFEST, 2012 winner- Best Cinematography, ONECLOUDFEST, 2012 winner- OCF FAV, ONECLOUDFEST, 2012 winner- Best Music Video, Macon Film Festival, 2013 winner- Rising Star Award, Canada International Film Festival, 2013 winner- Best Story, Knickerbocker Film Festival, 2013 winner- Best Film, Charleston International Film Festival, 2013 winner- Best Narrative Short, Geneve Film Festival, 2013 winner- Best Director, First Glance Film Festival Hollywood, 2013 winner- Audience Favorite, First Glance Film Festival Hollywood, 2013 winner- Aloha Accolade, Honolulu Film Awards, 2013 winner- Silver Reel, Portland Music Video Festival, 2013 winner- Best Short Film, New Jersey Film Festival, 2013 winner- Shoestring Trophy, Rochester International Film Festival, 2013 winner- Best of Festival, Rochester International Film Festival, 2013 official selections: - Raindance Film Festival, 2012 - Woodstock Film Festival, 2012 - San Diego Film Festival, 2012 - New Orleans Film Festival, 2012 - Vision Fest, 2012 - United Film Festival, 2012 - Budapest Short Film Festival, 2012 - Cornwall Film Festival, 2012 - Park City International Film & Music Festival, 2012

Mark Smith and Oskar Enander spent four years filming and photographing winters in Alaska as part of the North Project. Adventurous? Absolutely. But we're the ones who hand-drew and animated the more than 6,000 frames creatively documenting the opening of the North Project's photo exhibit in Portland. How's that for adventure? Directed and Scored by Daniel Fickle. Animation and postproduction by Two Penguins PDX. www.twopenguins.com www.danielfickle.com www.thenorthproject.com

The exhibition for The North Project took place in Portland, Oregon at a space called The Cleaners. It featured stills and a film that span four winters in Haines, Alaska. Some of our friends from Europe and other far away places couldn't make it to the show so we made this animated short for them. cameras: Panasonic HVX 200, Panasonic LX3 edit: Final Cut Pro, After Effects, Illustrator, Wacom table thttp://thenorthproject.com

Bloody Amateur, (the new solo project from NYC guitarist/songwriter Andy Comer). ‘Shed Some Weight’ is the first video to be released for his debut LP (released March 5, 2013 via Teen-Beat). The video is a collaboration between Andy Comer and long-time friend, award-winning filmmaker Daniel Fickle. The two began working together in 2008 while Andy was Multimedia Editor at GQ, and have worked together on numerous commercial and creative projects in the years since. Daniel's previous work has taken home honors from SXSW, was featured on FKR.TV, and he was recently awarded a Webby Honoree title for his music video 'A House, A Home'. The video is a coming-of-age story, staged entirely on a moving railway car, and inspired by events from Andy’s teen years. Daniel wanted to capture the frenetic energy and constant change experienced by teenagers coming into adulthood and “shedding weight”, literally and figuratively. We see a progression of confidence, built through learning that first chord on the guitar, knowing how to pair your socks to your trousers and, naturally, getting that first kiss. The dramatic visuals and bold performance by Eleven Becenti make this a first class debut for Bloody Amateur. CAST Eleven Becenti, Reed Sherbrooke, Katie McFarland, Cody Troxel, Sara Fanger, Riley Stewart, & Rowan Singley Shot on the Canon EOS C300 at Gunderson in Portland, Oregon.

Casey Neill came to us to create a video for the title track of his upcoming album "All You Pretty Vandals" and we were immediately inspired by the depth of this rock anthem and the lyrics that call out every human's tendency to build something beautiful and then break it into a million pieces. We chose beautiful eastern Oregon as our backdrop for the hilarious brutality Casey has willingly arranged to have inflicted on himself from the back of a seriously sexy Triumph. We also dished out a whole lot of misery on an innocent J.Crew Ludlow suit. Sorry about that, suit. Ever wonder what happened to Pily, the star of director Daniel Fickle's Denmark, after all the water drained out of his rocketship? He crash landed squarely in the middle of Hollywood, where his lovable little star is on the rise. We caught up with everyone's favorite nondescript crustacean a year after Denmark wrapped production for his thoughts on his debut performance and the scoop on his next project.

DANIEL FICKLE'S artistry is diverse. He was born in Atlanta, Georgia and spent his youth contributing to Atlanta’s underground music scene. His natural affinity for songwriting had him touring as a member of multiple bands, including Portrait and The Station Myth. In his early twenties, he combined his creative and commercial interests and moved to New York to start his professional career as a photographer and filmmaker. While in New York, Daniel paid his way as an instructor at the famed NY Film Academy. He quickly gained a reputation for his camera work, film scores, and creative vision as a director. After being awarded “Best Film” festival wins, Ebert and Roper “Picks of the Week,” and official selections to Sundance, Daniel started a photography and film agency where he could further develop his creative vision. He formed TWO PENGUINS PRODUCTIONS and within a few years, it had offices in New York, Los Angeles, Chicago, and Portland, Oregon, with a client portfolio including GQ, Nike, InStyle, J.Crew, KEEN Footwear, and Gilt Groupe. His work has been televised throughout France, featured as “Staff Picks” on Vimeo, Motionographer, and Daily Motion, and selected in over 90 film festivals, including SXSW. He has been awarded two Webby Honoree titles as Director of the series ‘GQ Rules’ and the short film ‘A House, A Home.’ His photography includes work for GQ Magazine, InStyle, Chase Bank, and KEEN Footwear. And yet, Daniel’s creative outlook has always remained the same, irreverently sophisticated. He splits his time between New York & Portland, with recent photography campaigns in Guatemala & Greenland.
