      • Ohlone Sacred Sites Explained! WIP 'Bridge Walkers' short documentary Flor de Miel Films

from Flor de Miel Films / Added

This short work-in-progress documentary created in 2011 was the start to the 'Bridge Walkers' Installation, and became the foundation for the 'Bridge Walkers' Short Documentary which screened in the Harmon Hall Education Tower at the de Young Museum in September 2012. 'Bridge Walkers' is available for screenings and in-person presentations with Catherine Herrera. This 2011 WIP shares the history and cultural importance today of Sacred Shellmounds to the Ohlone people of San Francisco. Ann Marie Sayers, Corrina Gould, and L. Frank Manriquez offer a unique vantage to better understand efforts today to protect and preserve Sacred Sites. Collaborations between the Ohlone and local parks, museums, archeologists, and environmental stewards has led to increasing protection for these vital sites. This photo animation is the backbone of a larger project focusing on the de Young Museum's Hamon Tower: A twisted section of the complex that changes shape as you walk its circumference. The tower also provides a 360 view of San Francisco and the Bay Area. My ultimate goal is to honor the creative architecture, the Music Concourse, as well as the art the museum showcases. Full digitally painted version coming soon... Music: Whispering Through by Asura (http://freemusicarchive.org/music/Asura/Bonus_Beat_Blast_2011/09_asura-whispering_through)
