In the Summer of 2013, Santa Clara County jail officials put forward a policy to stop inmates from receiving letters. The proposal would allow for only limited sized "postcards" to be sent to inmates. A wide cross-section of county residents -- families of the incarcerated, the formerly incarcerated, faith leaders, re-entry service providers, civil rights and legal advocates -- met with the officials to discuss the proposal, and share their perspectives as to why letters are critical to maintain for inmates, their loved ones, and the community as a whole. www.siliconvalleydebug.com

ACJP is housed at SV De-Bug -- a community media, organizing and advocacy collective based in San Jose, California. ACJP is currently offering training to organizations and the legal community. This video is about Adrian Hernandez, a 19 year old San Jose teenager who may potentially face a 4 year prison sentence in mid-September. Adrian "fell through the cracks" when he relapsed from his drug addiction. His mother, Veronica Moreno, desperately requested for the programs and services when Adrian was battling from recovery. Unfortunately, "there was no space available" for him and Veronica did the best she could to support her son's recovery. This video documents Veronica Moreno and Adrian's younger brother, Jonathan Moreno, a sophomore in high school. At De-Bug, we believe that a 4 year prison sentence is unfair and unjust to give to Adrian. We want to deliver Adrian Hernandez back home, so he could fulfill his dreams to go to college and return to his loving family. We will be creating a video to show to the Judge in mid-september. We hope that the Judge can support Adrian and send him to a residential facility so he could receive the adequate services and support in order to recover. If he goes to prison he will not only be deprived of his youth but he will also not receive the services and medication that he needs while in prison. Your support would be greatly appreciated. If you could spread the word about Adrian Hernandez and stay tune for his court date --then we could bring Adrian back home and on the road to recovery. www.siliconvalleydebug.com www.ACjusticeproject.org Video By: Marlo Alvarado Custodio Cinematic Social Justice Documentarian marLo.custodio@gmail.com
