The Carolean Death March refers to the disastrous retreat by a Swedish Carolean army under the command of Carl Gustaf Armfeldt across the Tydal mountain range in Trøndelag around the new year 1718–1719. A total of 3,700 soldiers died, 3,000 of them while crossing the mountain. Another 451 soldiers were dismissed after the campaign as the frostbite damage they had suffered made them unfit for military service. The civilian population in Jämtland as well as in the Trøndelag region also suffered greatly from starvation and disease as a result of the war. A large number of people, many of them children, died as a direct consequence of the campaign. The war was a matter for kings, far beyond the understanding of ordinary people. Armfeldt’s Norwegian campaign, in which few actual battles were fought, caused great military and civilian losses and had far-reaching consequences for the Trøndelag region. This is the story of Leslei Bunn Glover. A young brave soldier that survived the nightmare of been a POW. It was an honor to produce, direct and edit this amazing story. Here is part of the introduction to his book. God bless. " In life we can never be sure what joys or atrocities may befall us, but every individual has the responsibility to make his or her mark in life. To finally come to a place of peace and acceptance, knowing we have done our very best with the cards life has dealt us. I tell my story and all it entails for my children to remember me by. I also tell my story so that no one will ever forget about Sandakan, Kuching and all the brave men whose stories could not be told, whose lives, if they had been spared could have been as full and as rich as mine has been."
