1. Design Out Crime: i-migo

    from PDD / Added

The Design Out Crime project is developing innovations in technology, services and product design which help make mobile phones more crime-proof. PDD worked collaboratively to design the i-migo, an anti-theft device designed to connect with your smartphone. The i-migo connects to your smartphone and sends out a signal to alert you when the two devices are too far away from each other, for example if you've lost it or it has been stolen. The i-migo also has remote locking capabilities to prevent your personal details being accessed by someone else.

Brief: Crime affects every one of us in many different ways and all of us have experienced crime in one form or another. D&AD, in collaboration ?Design Out Crime? have tasked you to create an animation that provides a solution to design out crime. Whether it is sad, emotional or comical is up to you, but your message needs to be simple and effective and provide a solution to Design Out Crime. Be weary to not limit yourselves in terms of methodology or product type, because the message needs to reach the maximum possible audience. Rational: My concept is based on statistics. Each bar represents a particular type of crime. My video has a modern look. The map of the world depicts how crime spreads affects all over the globe, I choose the colour red because it is a colour associated we danger, pain and crime. I chose to use icons to represent the crimes because I wanted a solid style through out. My point was that innovation in technology will help decrease crime hence the solutions causing the bars to go down. I feel that this was the most effective solution that meets the briefs requirements.
