RUPTURE: Red shirts crisis, April May 2010, Bangkok Thailand. We look at the human & national tragedy as opposed to addressing and entangling ourselves with the polarized political debate. We transcend the colour codes (Red and Yellow) and the media bias. We look deeper and further. We feel it’s of vital importance to create a form of Remembrance – lest we forget - and not to shy away from these traumatizing events. By facing our past, we hope to facilitate dialogue - the prerequisite to peace and progress for our future. This exhibition explores photographically five very different perspectives on recent events that blistered and then erupted in Thailand. All five visions when placed together - although installed separately - provide the viewer with a jarred, broken and yet ‘rounder’ (but certainly unwholesome) experience. It parallels and expresses what has happened, what could still be happening, and what could easily happen again, outside the safety of these gallery walls. In a very broad sense, and only to simplify, the exhibition can be divided into three very rough parts. CONTEXT, AFTERMATH or (after-thought/reflection), and NARRATIVE.
