Individual use is freely permitted but any institution, governmental or otherwise, must contact the filmmakers and receive permission before screening, viewing, or usage in any way. On November 20th, 2009 students occupied Wheeler Hall at the University of California, Berkeley campus. They locked themselves into the second floor of the building and called for an end to the continued fee increases, the re-hiring of laid-off workers, and other demands stemming from the University's ongoing assault on the very nature of a public education. Before long hundreds and then thousands of supporters had gathered outside the building to support the occupiers, forming picket lines and challenging the police at every opportunity. All exits to Wheeler Hall were blockaded by supporters to prevent the occupiers from being arrested, while inside the police hammered the barricaded doors and threatened the students with arrests, beatings, and felonies. However, after twelve hours of occupation it had become clear that the University had to back down. If the UC police had attempted to drag the student activists out of the building a riot surely would have ensued, and the police were forced to allow the occupiers to walk out into the cheering crowd after only being cited with misdemeanors. While their specific demands were not met, students are hailing this as a major victory, the first round in a new movement for free education and in opposition to the government's policies of forced austerity and privatization.

ClimateChangesArt joined Greenpeace, the Rainforest Action Network, 350.org, and a coalition of organizations from all across America to help curate and build the art for the Capitol Coal Action – the largest direct action for climate in US history. Working from the Greenpeace warehouse, and an abandonded warehouse, these groups orchestrated “art builds” – resulting in the creation of hundreds of posters, banners and props for the direct action. Images from this protest are full of color and vibrance – truly reflecting the quality of the movement it represents. As Buckland states, “We must make this movement as beautiful as the things we are fighting to protect. And we are fighting to save the most beautiful of things – the birds, the trees, and the sky.” Approximately 3,000 gathered for this non-violent, direct action at a Coal-fired Power Plant – located only 3 blocks away from the Capitol building. This plant was truly a symbol that the United States, and our government in particular, are literally powered by coal. Protestors included America’s leading climatologist, Dr. James Hansen, writer Bill McKibben, actress Daryl Hannah, and poet Wendell Berry. Participants put their bodies on the line, and risked arrest to illustrate the severity of climate change – and that drastic action is needed to curb emissions. Even Al Gore has endorsed these highly effective methods of creating social change, saying “"I can't understand why there aren't rings of young people blocking bulldozers and preventing them from constructing coal-fired power plants." The best part of this action: IT WORKED! We shut down the plant for the day, and within hours Speaker of the House, Nancy Pelosi had declared that the plant would be converted to run on natural gas. One coal plant down!
