Disappearing City highlights a different perspective people might have on our current city. Displaying a city that is moving forward in grey scale portrays an impression that as much as the city might be appealing with its various shapes and sizes, it could also be lifeless. Lifeless due to the mundane routine people tend to have on a daily basis. At the same time, all these buildings are examples of man's triumph and pride as each infrastructure is trying to outgrow one another. Competition begets tension which brings about animosity. Thus, negativity is always present in our ever-changing city. Life is also faster paced due to competition as nobody wants to be left behind. Disappearing city aims to create awareness as to how the city is falling apart internally if men do not change for the better and discard of their cold and egocentric characters and never to judge too soon.

My final outcome for my University piece. I was asked to focus on issues such as social, political or environmental issues that are driving current debate, also looking at aspects within city life that simply explore the physicality of a space. I focused on supermarket domination and how is become so apparent in our cities. This video highlights these issues in a conceptual manner, in support of the local trader, using melting ice as a visual aesthetic. This piece is accompanied by a hand made dvd case. Music: Houses - Endless Spring I constructed this piece using: High speed camera (7000fps) Canon 550d, 60mm EFS Macro & 18-55 mm After Effects www.fourpiece.co.uk

A response to the onedotzero brief 'The Disappearing City'. I chose to focus on the fact that cities around the world disappear into shadowy darkness. They are then re-lit by artificial light and lamps until, eventually, the city's life ends for that night. Conversely, the darkened city disappears into the light and so the cycle goes on...
