Sabaton at Concord Music Hall on Milwaukee Avenue and Western in Chicago, opening for Nightwish 2015-04-18 21.11.12, the 2nd of 3 bands. Missed the first one altogether. Stayed for 22.22 of Nightwish, then went home. This is the tail end of Sabaton. I guess I was just beat. ...but I left disappointed.

I swear that the richBitch Chicago people at the Harris, and I mean fellow audience members in best available seating, have no cultural appreciation for ad hoc educational videography, or the concept of documentary video maker shooting stuff preserving it for others on the planet to see. Yet again today I was rudely called a thief to my face, accused of stealing people's stuff, at the conclusion of this awesome performance, courtesy of a tweeded twee fellow on my immediate left, 3rd row center. Anyway, those of you who love Laurie since the 70s and her _United States Live_ or _Mr. Heartbreak_ LP, and earlier than that, you get it. Laurie gets it. The people who are new to avant-garde music: I hope that this film will turn you onto one of the greatest treasures of USA culture, Laurie Anderson, widow of Lou Reed. Kronos Quartet? Not too shabby, either. Entire performance done in one take, per Dogme 95. And I got me a ticket for not too much loot for the Kronos Quartet MY LAI spectacle/performance in the very same row. When? January 2016. See you then, tweeded twee Harris people (with faces like horse-marshmallow pies).

"Hi, we're Zebo" crocodilesmile-said Sabina, rather Teutonically, when taking the stage in Chicago Pilsen Historic District, at Thalia Hall, on 12 March 2015, wearing a frilly genderbender (tight pants! clown pantaloon bottoms!) ...Snow White number, fooling some people some of the time. ¡Deliciosa! This is the entire show from stage edge center, minus some of the encore, at which time my apendage numbness fumbled my iPhoneness. But I went right at it. The resulting 6 minutes I will put out on me Facebook as bait. But, as you are my Vimloved, U R, L(ove), I make you gift of it: http://bit.ly/1yapSxv Remember what Poles proverbially say of gifts that come as horses: It's bad form to inspect a gift horse's teeth. Anyhoo. You just had to be there, to coin a pat phrase. Please to pay attention in main vimeo to "Pussy". The convivial stage participation bit. Tankyouvereemuch. Amen.

First 55 minutes of Ms. Lights Valerie Poxleitner (musically) of Toronto, and band, a.k.a, LIGHTS, performing in Indianapolis on 7 March 2015. She said that it was her first appearance there since 2012. Enthusiastically received. Spirited show, clean sound. People were singing along. No "February Air", surprisingly.

            • Robyn Hitchcock, Emma Swift in cameo @Evanston, Illinois' S.P.A.C.E. 2015-02-22 20.25.52

Robyn Hitchcock gave the usual mirth-evoking, narratively ad-libbed musical performance of impeccable quality (tonight's foil was the American Revolutionary War hero Casimir Pulaski, I suspect engendered by an Interstate 65 memorial highway sign in Northwest Indiana on the way to Chicago from points south) with guest Emma Swift, a velvet-voiced Ozzie, with whom he has been smitten^H^H^H duetting on- and off-record for over a year now. My film record of this runs a bit over an hour, my no means capturing all of it. Emma makes her guest appearance in the 52nd minute. After the ceremonial encore of Lou Reed's "Pale Blue Eyes" by the three of them (Yvette the Beret Wearer, merch manager, lent it a credible alto), Robyn was signing things (as opposed to singing things!) and being generally approachable, unlike at his early winter visit to Chicago's Old Town School of Music, where ushers by the way are Alice-in-Wonderland-grade suppressive about taking pix, recording voice, etcetera (not so at the laissez-faire S.P.A.C.E.). When it was my turn, I said to him, "Mr. Hitchcock, I was too stupid to bring my copy of your [old guitar-song masterpiece] _I Often Dream of Trains_ to sign, a copy that I had since college," and he took the time to look at me really hard. For what it's worth.

38 minutes and 40 seconds in one take of sister of Rufus Wainwright and Margaret Wainwright, daughter of Loudon Wainwright the 3rd and Suzzy Roche, a fine urban folkie with a deadpan sense of humor, who will drive in the nastiest of 2015 winter to Chicago from Brooklyn, her complete set, opening for Shawn Calvin. Shawn's lovely voice I had to hear from the women's bathroom. But it was worth it, all things considered. This was my last visit to Chicago franchise of The City Winery. Thanks for all the fish, as the saying goes. I hope this film popularizes Lucy some; she really musically deserves it.
