Extract: from a submission to the 'Licencing & Compliance' officer at The Broadcasting Commission of Ireland authored by Mr Alan Byrne, manager DundalkFM100. Dated 15th January 2008. ""Aurelie's show was suspended because she refused to remove an offensive blog about colleagues. The 'Discipline Committee' in appendix 5 refers to the Programming Committee. I can confirm all complaints are dealt with on a professional manner. Yours sincerely, Alan Byrne, manager." "When Aurelie came in two days later, I asked why she had written about her colleagues in a demeaning and disrespectful manner on the internet. I said this was unacceptable and asked her to remove it immediately. I said blogging was as valid as publishing and she could be slandering people with her blog. She had emailed all presenters with a press report from 2 years ago which mentioned a disagreement at the station, which was quickly cleared up." Below an example of how: A board member publishes professionalized albeit demeaning, disrespectful and potentially slanderous 'blogging' at DundalkFM100. [Same time as the above 'report' to the BCI was being 'authored] "I have never publicly or privately expressed any opinion, good bad or indifferent about Oliver O'Grady and I don't have any intention of doing so. I don't know enough about him - nor do I care to - to be able to express such an opinion...I have never contacted you in the capacity of a board or committee member and I never will. I've always contacted you in a personal capacity, and in all honesty personally speaking, - go fuck yourself." Niall O'Keeffe, (former)presenter Wall of Sound - Dundalk FM & (former) Director, The Dundalk Media Centre; incorporating DundalkFm100 (Community Radio Station), Partnership Court, Dundalk, Co.Louth. The following article Alan Bryne refers to the phrase used: "emailed all presenters with a press report from 2 years ago" Demeaning and disrespectful of who? War at Dundalk FM 100 "It's just a couple of disgruntled employees letting off steam" DUNDALK FM presenters and management are reported to be at loggerheads following the walkout of flagship presenter, Harry Lee. It is understood that feuding at the station reached a peak a number of weeks ago resulting in the walk out of Harry Lee, who has been involved in Dundalk FM since its inception. The Dundalk Democrat has also learned that a number of other volunteers at the station have had disagreements with the same management. A former worker at the station has said that the atmosphere at the centre had made working conditions intolerable. "I was forced to leave. I couldn't take it anymore. I couldn't cope with the atmosphere. "I'm a strong person but nothing was done to improve the situation and I was forced to resign. "It wasn't just me, there were others. Some that I didn't even realise were going through what I was going through." The former worker said that Harry Lee was well known and liked by all the people who have been at Dundalk FM. "Harry Lee has been with Dundalk FM since it began so everyone has worked with him. "I fully support him and can understand how things have got to the stage where he has walked out." The former worker said that things need to change at Dundalk FM if it is to reach its successful potential. "There is money being pumped into the Media Centre and if an essential programming committee is brought in then Dundalk FM would be flying." It is understood that efforts are being made to secure Harry's return to the station, however, sources indicate at this point that nothing is definite. Harry had presented the stations flagship programme Dundalk Daily which dealt with local issues of both a humorous and serious nature. In almost 18 months of Dundalk Daily, Harry has interviewed a wide scope of guests including President Mary McAleese, MEP Mairead McGuinness, singer Dominic Kirwan and also Fr Ermelindo Di Capua, who worked with St Padre Pio. Speaking this week station manager Alan Byrne admitted there were issues at the station at present but said reports of wide discontent were being exaggerated. "We are all big enough to know that you can't believe everything. It's just a couple of disgruntled employees or staff - people letting off steam." He continued: "There are issues that we are going through but we are hopeful that these will be resolved and everything will be fine." Harry Lee declined to comment on the matter. First Published Date: 16 March 2006 By Anne Marie Eaton. Dundalk Democrat. Postscript: "There is money being pumped into the Media Centre and if an essential programming committee is brought in then Dundalk FM would be flying." "Aurelie's show was suspended because she refused to remove an offensive blog about colleagues. The 'Discipline Committee' in appendix 5 refers to the Programming Committee. I can confirm all complaints are dealt with on a professional manner. Yours sincerely, Alan Byrne, manager."
