The MFA Applied Craft and Design Program’s 2011 Design Build project focused on the first phase of a Learning Center at the Donald E Long Juvenile Detention Center in Northeast Portland. First year students worked with visiting artists Jack Sanders and Butch Anthony to convert an existing, empty detention unit into a library for Long Center students. PNCA writer-inresidence Barry Sanders (and volunteer teacher at the Center) acted as client and liaison, facilitating interaction between MFA students, and Long Center students and staff.

Some footage I put together from Saturday evening at Doo Nanny. From Doo-Nanny.com: A truly unique experience!....a casserole of southern folk art, home cookin, homemade movies, camping, foot-stompin music, experimental architecture, guessing, oddities, unusual characters, a movie festival, surprises, cracker ingenuity, experiential transomism, and much more!... Folks coming in from NY, TX, CA, and beyond beyond... Begun as a roadside folk art show in 1996, the Doo-Nanny is now located on a beautiful 80 acre farm in Seale, AL, near Columbus, Ga, and includes a wacky "lo-fi" film festival, fun food, and an eclectic assortment of music and activities.

Black Warrior Fish is the undisputed Doonanny Film Festival champion and has been voted BEST DOCUMENTARY for the past 5 years. Shotty editing, poor lighting, bad acting and general disorganization make this a film worth seeing once - maybe. Parents beware: suggestive language and killer catfish.
