              Using an iPad, Touch OSC and Max/MSP to control a Make Noise DPO. Signal path is DPO Final out --> A-132-3. The "Fold" portion of the DPO's timbre section is acting as a VCA for the module. The A-132-3 is acting as a panner, using two inverted outputs from the Dr. Octature to open its VCAs in a mirrored pattern.                 Using the Echophon's two feedback loops to synthesize solo and ensemble string sounds. A small bit of reverb was added after the fact. Signal path: Cyclebox (vocal formant bank) --> Dr. Octature 12dB LPF--> QMMG (LPG) --> Echophon (50/50 wet/dry mix) The LPG is being opened by a Maths envelope (ch.4). The same envelope is controlling the Echophon's feedback amount. Throughout the patch, I am adjusting the amount and polarity of the feedback CV. The Echophon's pitch shifter is being controlled through Row 2 of a Pressure Points/Brains combo (clocked by Math's EOC output). The Echophon is set to shift at 1v/oct.                 • Echophon: VC no-input mixing

                  Using an Echophon, Dr. Octature and Noisering to create a voltage-controlled feedback system similar to a no-input mixing channel. Doc Oc is patched into the Echophon's external feedback loop. The Noisering's 1 and 2 outs are patched to the 1v/oct* and Q CV ins on the Octature. A high enough resonance will cause the filter to oscillate. The recirculating echos give the whole thing a nice ghostly quality. This is a handy patch to have on hand if you ever find yourself having to do background music for a late night, Creature Feature type show on public access. www.theshamblers.blogspot.com *Maths is acting as a slew limiter between Noisering out 1 and Doc Oc 1v/oct in.

                  • Dr. Octature filter types

                    A quick run through of some of the filter types available by mixing the Dr. Octature's variously sloped and phased low pass filter outputs. In the first section, the filter is fully open with no resonance. Only the 6dB output is being monitored. In the second section, the filter is being modulated by a looping envelope. All QMMG channels are set to VCA-- we're listening to the Mix Out: 6db out --> QMMG channel 1 12db out --> QMMG channel 2 18db --> QMMG channel 3 24db --> QMMG channel 4. Input: a sine and saw mix from a Z3000, with its triangle fed back into the linear FM input (index at noon), driving a Blacet Miniwave (wavetable value modulated by a looping envelope). www.theshamblers.blogspot.com
