Here my new video, a tribute to the 25th anniversary of the fall of the Wall in Berlin, my second home. Beautiful tribute with lights in the name of the victims of the DDR; we can't never forget this story and not to be repeated. I made this video during my walk along to to the line of lights on the border of the wall. a spontaneous video i made with a simple camera photo. I made the audio, a Remix with a symbolic song about the wall: Pink Floyd - Another brick Of The Wall. During my studies of European Media Sciences I participated in the course of „Intermedial Design: The Map and the Sight from Above“. In this course, we have discussed, among other, the depiction of our personal world in the form of a map. Based on this discussion, I created this artistic-aesthetic work, which represents a declamatory map of my living environment.
Since the residential area, in which I mostly reside, extends in the area of the former border (the Wall) between East and West Berlin, relicts of historical significance that can be found along this section of the former border are given special attention in my recordings (e.g. Berlin Wall Memorial, Bernauer Straße, Gleimtunnel). To make this video, I have use the so-called timelapse and hyperlapse techniques. Timelapse means the acceleration of photographic time exposures of motion sequences in the form of film. This technique shows through accelerated recordings, how time passes and at the same time shows us things, which our perception would possibly miss otherwise. When using the hyperlapse technique, the camera is moved with every picture taken so that additional dynamic (e.g. in form of a 360° rotation) is created in the final video. The aim of this project is to create a vivid map of my own living environment in form of two timelapse/hyperlapse videos that run at the same time. One video (video B) shows, referring to the „Sight from Above“ of our seminar course, the actual ground of the way that I regularly walk along within my daily environment, that is the area between Berlin Wedding and Prenzlauer Berg. The other video (video A) shows extracts of what I actually see, while walking along the route from video B.

RAW - UNITED WE STAY is a short grassroot documentary film, produced in Berlin in 2008, to cover the struggle of RAW Tempel collective to keep its right to exist in a gentrified East Berlin. The short was screened in local film festivals in Berlin, Bruxelles, Hamburg, Leipzig and was awarded at Berlin Kiez Kieken Festival. After the reunification of Germany, 20 years ago, East Berlin was literally left on his own. The former GDR infrastructures were abandoned, Berlin was broke, and private investors were not interested in these unstable eastern districts. In this context, the local population took the matters in its own hands and started to self-organize. This is how Friedrichshain, today a well-known district in East Berlin, developped the last 15 years. Architects and sociologists call this process a « grassroots-led urban development », or a « participative urban planning ».
