Craft; as is established is dependent on ‘Process’ and ‘Raw-material’. Everything else is directly or indirectly its manifestation or fruition. Infact almost everything contemporary is a remote manifestation of craft and does not lead to the creation of an artefact or artwork but a ‘Product’. Every product has a defined lifespan (shelf-life), like matter itself, though the point to be considered here is that life or existence of a zillion products is not even acknowledged, not merely because of their relevance and (lack of/)usability, but because of our fast moving material economies and consumerism. These products then end up as ‘Urban-waste’, which fortunately, thanks to the development in science, has a scope of becoming new ‘Raw- material’, but unfortunately doesn’t or merely does! ....We all believe in what we see... Ever given a thought what if, it can somehow be shown to people that a crushed bottle, a can of soda along with some cds and an abandoned C.P.U can be transformed into a state-of-art Pendant Light, a piece of Furniture that adorns their living room or a Lifestyle Accessory, then (hopefully) there will be a marked increase in the number of people who recycle, directly proportional to the stuff recycled and someday, at systems level, inversely proportional to exploitation of our finite resources. This animation is an attempt at the same.. An academic project. Brothers Chris and Will Haughey didn't start Tegu with toys on their mind. In fact, the company began with the simple notion that Honduras needed businesses which offered living wage jobs. Home to beautiful hardwoods, the country could have been the perfect spot for sustainably manufacturing any number of wooden products. However, the brothers were inspired by classic wooden toys on a trip to Europe and embarked on a quest to breathe new life into an old industry. Today, Tegu blocks inspire children while addressing unemployment, neglected natural and human resources and the need for entrepreneurship in Honduras.
