Gates were chained shut and barbed wire lined the tops of fences last Thursday as students from Ñuñoa’s all-girls high school Internado Nacional Femenino took over the campus in one of the year’s first “tomas.” Protesters said they were fighting against Ñuñoa Mayor Pedro Sabat for denying re-enrollment for girls who had participated in earlier tomas. Sabat had also been in conflict with the members of the school when he accused students of prostituting themselves for drugs and alcohol while they were in toma. For more information, read Olivia Crellin's article about the "March of the Putas," which details Sabat's aforementioned accusation. http://santiagotimes.cl/chile/human-rights-a-law/23231-chileans-protest-local-mayors-school-whorehouse-remark
