ARZU STUDIO HOPE™ is about providing sustainable income, education & health care to Afghan women, their families & communities, in order to break the cycle of poverty. A social contract between ARZU STUDIO HOPE and the weavers is required so that their children attend school. ARZU STUDIO HOPE also supports health care in remote rural villages. The hope for these women weavers, is that they will contribute to the formation of a true democracy to change their war ravaged country for the better. HOW IT WORKS: When a woman completes a rug and is paid by the Private Sector rug agent, ARZU STUDIO HOPE adds an additional 50% cash bonus for that rug. 3 WAYS TO GIVE HOPE: 1. Purchase a one-of-a-kind, hand-knotted artisan rug (http://arzustudiohope.org) 2. Donate (http://bit.ly/1m6kC5) 3. Share our cause with friends (http://bit.ly/zQAWZ)

This film was made during my work as a volunteer at Oxlajuj B'atz', a cooperative of Maya weaving women in Guatemala. At OB we truly believe that Maya women working with us not only are artisans, but mainly artists. They have kept practicing these ancestral technics in spite of all they went through during violent times in Guatemala. And today they are building again self-estime of the Maya culture. Therefore we pay warm tribute to these women, for their hard work and dedication, for their strenghts and talents.
