    • Totara Springs Snippets - Crate Climb + Flying Kiwi

      from Totara Springs Added

Crate Climb is a popular activity where the object is to build a single stack of milk-crates as high as you can while the whole time standing on the top of it. 10 or more crates is a good achievement but the record is 31! Flying Kiwi is an amazing spectacle of fun! We have a rope running through a pulley at the roof of the audi. On one end is a line of eight harnesses for the people helping to pull. On the other end is the Kiwi attached in a full body harness. Basically the Kiwi runs in the opposite direction to the pulling crew & then flies high into the air right to the top of the audi. Extra options include blind Kiwi (using a blind fold) & Michael Jordan (shooting for the basketball hoop). - See more at: http://www.totarasprings.org.nz/info/information/flying-kiwi/#sthash.4gYnwg5W.dpuf - See more at: http://www.totarasprings.org.nz

In the summer of 2012, Annelise Loevlie, COO of Icelantic Skis, had an idea that sounded a little crazy. The idea was to put together a group of 6 women to journey down to the Southern Hemisphere and compete in Chile’s 2nd Annual Eye of the Condor ski competition. EOTC is a unique ski photo and video event representing the evolving talent, creativity, and drive of the ski film industry. Each team of 4 skiers, 1 filmmaker, and 1 photographer has 5 days to shoot and edit a ski film and photo portfolio. On the 6th day, a panel of the ski industry’s finest athletes and artists judge the work and announce Best Video and Best Photo Portfolio. CHeck out last years video: https://vimeo.com/46970751 The idea took shape and a few months later, Anne, Alex, Katy, Kaylin, Rebecca, and Roberta gathered together in La Parva, Chile, meeting in person for the first time – we called ourselves The Icey Ladies, an amalgam of personalities, cultures, languages, skills and unknowns. EOTC provided a unique opportunity to come together, weave our skills and personalities into an energized crew, and contribute to a community we love. To make a long story short, The Icey Ladies – the only team of all women- won Best Video, bringing home the Golden Condor. Floods of heartfelt phone calls and emails poured in congratulating us and expressing gratitude for taking on this challenge and producing a video that ‘inspires’, ‘evokes emotion’, and ‘makes me want to go skiing’. When EOTC3 was announced for the summer of 2013, we decided we had to return. This video is our effort to share with the world what we love and do best and make something worth watching and spreading that will inspire others to contribute.
