One of the most frequently asked questions I receive from our attendees and coaching clients is, “What would you do differently if you could start your business over again?” The first thing, I had to think about a bit. I think we’ve all had some regrets for the decisions we’ve made in our creative business. And the second, I didn’t even hesitate to know exactly what I would have done differently.

              from Elizabeth Kochergin Added 546 3 0

My boyfriend and I spent all of last year backpacking throughout South America. When in Otavalo, Ecuador, we Couchsurfed with a really cool Canadian who now lives there. What was only meant to be a two day stay turned into many more days of learning about leather and watching Jay make all of his beautiful pieces by hand. Jay even showed my boyfriend and I how to make our own passport holder and a leather bound notebook. I was so amazed by the effort and creativity that Jay placed in making his leather pieces, that I decided to film him make a leather briefcase that someone had ordered from his Etsy store. As the title of the video suggests, it took him three days to make the briefcase. After spending quite some time in Jay's leather workshop, I can say how much more I appreciate artisans and all the work that they create. I've never looked at something handmade in the same way again. Jay's store: https://www.etsy.com/shop/jjleathersmith Music: http://freemusicarchive.org/music/My_Bubba__Mi/Wild__You/
