1. Jacob's Ladder: Spring, 2009

Brad and I rode up and down Jacob's Ladder (Corner Canyon Park, Draper, UT) twice: once with the camera facing forward (with new helmetcam mount), once with it pointing back. Forward didn't work out too well -- the lens was pointing too far down. I'm still learning. Music: Smooth Criminal, performed by Alien Ant Farm

I've often wondered what my kids are doing when I pull them on the tagalong as we go mountain biking. So I mounted a rear-facing camera for a ride in April, 2009. Turns out she's having a lot of fun. Who'd have guessed? Also, I need to get her a better-fitting helmet. Believe it or not, Allycat did not pay me for the perpetual product placement. Ha.

Grove is one of the freakiest, most treacherous trails in Utah County. Cliffs and exposure everywhere. It's also one of the most beautiful rides around -- mountains, cliffs, creeks and waterfalls. Here, Fatty falls so far behind Kenny that they may as well not have been riding together.

Fatty riding Lambert park in early Spring, 2009. VIO-POV.1 mounted onto helmet -- kind of makes the shots look like they're from too high up, I think. Video shot 720x480, exported at 4:3

Fatty chases Brad and Jamie up and down Corner Canyon (Draper, UT). Everyone's on 29" singlespeeds (Waltworks, Vasago, Black Sheep respectively). Filmed with a VIO-POV.1 mounted on handlebars for forward-looking shots, mounted on seatpost for rearview shots. This version of the movie exported at 720 x 480, 4:3 ratio. I'm still trying to figure out the best settings for uploading. Mud is not the camera's friend.
