The Scarf Creation - In association with Macmillan Cancer Support Opening 6-8pm on Saturday the 5th of July Continues 6-31 July Kalopsia Collective strives to explore the various possibilities for textiles as a tool for communication and visual expression. Through The Scarf Creation- an exhibition devoted to displaying scarf designs in support of Cancer Research dialogues on the relationship between art and wellbeing will be brought to light. The scarf as an object bears connotations of concealment and protection. It can be used to cover up and to disguise but it is also reminiscent of the state of freedom and symbolic of sovereignty and joy. An array of contrasting and complementary scarf designs will be on display for viewers to see, featuring designs from international creators. Mutually unique, the designs range from experimental, illustrative, colorful, and humorous to minimalistic. Using screen-printing, digital printing, embroidery, knitting and more, the scarf designs seek to embody the spectrum of possibilities of textiles as a medium. After they have been exhibited the scarves will be available for purchase in a silent auction with all proceeds being donated in support of Macmillan Cancer Research. There will be a second opportunity to view this exhibition when it is displayed in Kalopsia Gallery at Ocean Terminal from the 5-31July.
