      from Jordan Clarke Added 13.3K 155 37

I was in this room at folk fest working on my computer when all these musicians started coming in and out of the room jamming then leaving then jamming more. I had my camera with me so i started filming. The sound quality turned out unusable so i thought i'd make my own song up and instead of highlighting the music, i would focus on the way people groove while making music and the energy that comes from a jam session. Camera: Panasonic HVX200 with letus extreme Lens: Nikon 50mm Music: Jordan Clarke - Jungle Jam

Here are some scenes from our "Summer in the Park" The weekend of August 2nd 2008. This is a family video and is handheld. Had just to much stuff to carry and it was too hectic down there to set up a tripod anyway. Sorry guys! I used cinescore for the intro music and the rest of the audio is raw from the camera. I tried about 50 different songs but couldn't find anything that I wanted because it seemed to lose the atmosphere of being there when the raw audio was dropped. I used Magic Bullet on the background of end sequence only. The rest is how it was shot. Edited in Sony vegas pro 8. The 2 fiddle players are my daughter Katelyn and her teacher Sam. Hopefully you guys enjoy it!

I stopped by my friend Vraja's restaurant, and she has this great old timey jam going on inside. So I decided to whip out my 7D and Zoom H4N audio recorder. I used a Nikon AI 50mm 1.4 and I shot with the "Super Flat Picture Profile" I'm a big fan of folk music, and it makes me happy to see people like this doing their part to make sure American culture doesn't get completely absorbed by facebook, ipods, itunes, and urban outfitters.

          • Mike Barnett "Chopping on the fiddle" on Us Folk

            from CTD3 Added

Mike Barnett is a phenomenal fiddler he has worked hard for 13 plus years to develope as a player. Herein he displays a style of playing called chopping. I know I mis-spelled his name in the clip hey it was late and my editor had gone to bed! (I know dumb! sorry Mike!) Unfortunately the mics were readjusted in mid stream since we had not had time to go over or be really clued into what the players were doing once adjusted the fiddle dominated until the last third but hey this is community radio on the fly / with this volunteer host (yours truly) wearing several hats all the while with my jaw on he floor watching mike play/chop and sing. The Program director and two community members who were shadowing me doing the show burst out in spontaneous applause. The Program Director said with the hundred or so guests he'd witnessed play on the show that he couldn't help but applaud and that was a first. He is a member of several bands www.NorthernLightsBand.com www.deadlygentlemen.com Check out his myspace for more tunage; http://www.myspace.com/mikefiddle Oh yeah he graduates from High School next week!

Boreal Tordu came on the radio July 6th to play both Us Folk and A la Votre. They have played on my program before but we never got into the French speaking which is a big part of the culture of their music and their forming by Steve the fiddle player and Rob the Dobro player who founded the group to rediscover their French Culture (Acadian). http://www.BorealTordu.com Note; here is an earlier clip featuring the fiddler on accordion http://vimeo.com/234156

                from CTD3 Added

Another track from Joe & Mike, members of the Northern Lights Band ( www.NorthernLightsBand.com ) and several other projects between them. Both undoubtedly virtuoso players. The tune here is a reel , an old trad tune called "Old French" wanting to keep the entire tune in the clip I stacked on pic to the front , a time where I was doing radio stuff like data entry level adjustment etc and then starting shoot half way into the tune. i love how they each play off one another and how mando & fiddle sound great together. Note that joe will again appear on the show Jun 13th with his band "JOY KILLS SORROW" a five piece acoustic band more @ www.JoyKillsSorrow.com

the dirty three blessed us with an amazing performance at the l.a. knitting factory tonight. this is a short clip of Warren Ellis swinging the "space belt" and pretty much keeping it in tune the whole time. the "space belt" is that synthy outer-space sound that seems to change pitch with the speed of the potentially obscene hand motions of the fellow center stage. It is always good to see the D3 make it out from down under every few years...
