Darren Agnew was commissioned by Simon Whalley, Exec Producer, Framestore Design and Digital to create the opening credits sequence for Mr Bean's Holiday. The brief was to have the captions work with the architecture of the opening scenes so that they were clearly presented but did not distract from the comic antics of Mr Bean. Darren opted for a clean and simple sans serif font and gave it a sense of fun with an animation style which is whimsical yet subtle.

Sundance 2012 - Opening Night Four friends lose themselves in the fun of a carefree South East Asian holiday. Only three return home. Who amongst them knows what happened on that fateful night when they were dancing under a full moon in Cambodia? Wish You Were Here is a psychological drama starring Joel Edgerton, Teresa Palmer, Felicity Price and Antony Starr. Bluetongue films Director Kieren Darcy-Smith asked Cutting Edge for a typographic treatment for opening titles, shown over a 10 minute sequence introducing us to the film’s characters. With a set colour palette, I laid out typography, matched colours to scenes, and presented various animation styles and positioning over a very visually busy montage, shot on Canon 5DmkII, on location in Thailand. The result is simple and elegant, sympathetic to the colour tone of the sequence, remaining very easy to read, and yet appearing unobtrusively in this immersive introduction to the film. Credits: Director: Kieran Darcy-Smith • Producer: Angie Fielder • Pitch: Brent Greyburn • Typography, Design, Animation, Compositing: Scott Geersen • Post Production Supervisor: Rebecca Cubitt

See Grace Fly is a full length digital feature shot by Facing Ali filmmaker Pete McCormack. I worked on the titles in 2010 to bring the film to a new audience. The film is about a woman’s decent into dementia spurred by a death in the family. As she spirals into a world of her own creation, Grace envisions an apocalyptic future and drafts up plans to build a doomsday device. I designed opening credits which pulled texture from technical blueprints drawn by the main character.
