While most climbers slept, I attempted to capture some of the magic that the Himalayan skies have to offer while climbing to the top of the world. Here's a bit of what I endured at the end to make this possible: http://www.eliasaikaly.com/2013/05/into-the-death-zone/ One of the most rewarding parts of the journey was being able to share it with thousands of students on http://www.findinglife.ca This time lapse video is comprised of thousands of photographs, processed and assembled on Mt. Everest. Music: A Heartbeat away purchased on http://goo.gl/AJZcM I hope you enjoy it. If you do, please leave a comment and let me know what you think. My stock footage, professional and charitable work can be see on my website at www.eliasaikaly.com And on FB: https://www.facebook.com/elia.saikaly.adventurer

http://eliasaikaly.com For stock footage requests please contact elia@eliasaikaly.com 5 countries, Peru, Nepal, Argentina, Russia and USA, over 55 000 photographs, dozens of sleepless nights while scaling 3 of the highest mountains on three different continents, never lower than 3000M and as high as 7000M above sea level. This is a compilation of my 2012 travel year. I am blessed and eternally grateful for the opportunities. While most struggle to place one foot in front of the other in their pursuit of the world's tallest peaks, I drag (often with help from local people) far too much DSLR gear with me to document and capture stories that inspire and stir the soul. Mother nature graciously and generously provides some of the most incredible scenery and light and I am humbled and grateful to be able to capture it for you. The magic of these environments is that you really have no idea what will happen in the frame once you set it up. I often view the end result with great surprise as I watch the stars dance in the evening sky. I just wish I had power sometimes! Shot on a Canon T3i, 7D and 5D using the following lenses: Canon 2.8 24-70mm Canon 2.8 70-200mm Tokina 2.8 11-16mm Knock off intervalometer remotes Cheap (light) tripods A glidetrack A guerilla pod Large stable rocks! Anything else that stabilizes the camera. Solar batteries to charge my gear or anything I can rig that creates a stable(ish) current. Processed in Lightroom Movies compiled using Quicktime Edited in Final Cut Pro I would like to recognize the following people for their contribution, be it in support, assistance or inspiration. Mohammed Al Thani Mohammed Zaal Ali Jaber Arab Team in Russia (I'm sorry for keeping you guys up!) Arab Team in Nepal (I'm sorry for keeping you guys up too!) All of my dear Sherpa friends who were incredibly patient with my craft The amazing porters from the lowlands in Nepal Oliver and Alexandra Apu and Mel Lucas Wiseman Dominic Czartoryski Zacuto for lending me gear while all others turned me down. ;) Your products rock! Shot on a Canon 7D at 5700M and edited in Final Cut Pro. Uploaded via Satellite 30mins prior to attempting the summit of the 6th Highest Mountain on Earth. No lens or camera can truly capture the beauty of the Himalayas at night. It must be experienced. Oh... BTW: Those little moving lights on the 3rd shot are people! That will be me in 2 days if all goes well. One love, Elia Saikaly http://www.findinglife.ca http://twitter.com/eliasaikaly http://facebook.com/findinglifeeducationaladventures

Imagine strapping a propane tank and a 40lb duffle bag to your head by way of a burlap strap and hauling the weight on your back up a hill at 8000ft above sea level, across a bridge, through a customs line-up, across an international border and up another hill for the equivalent of $6.00 CAD. Would you do it? Now ask yourself... Could you do it? Now... Imagine this. Imagine you have an infant strapped to the front of your chest. Specifically, your son or daughter that you have recently given birth to. In order to feed your newly born child, you must strap a duffle bag and over 30lbs of equipment to your head and carry it across an international border for the equivalent of $6.00. Would you do it? Shot by Elia Saikaly on an iPhone4 (not so legal) at the Chinese Tibetan border. Edited in Final Cut Pro. http://www.findinglife.ca twitter.com/eliasaikaly facebook.com/findinglifeeducationaladventures
